She works at hot topic
His heart microscopic
She thinks that its love but to him its sex
He listens to emo but fat mike's his hero
His bank account's zero
What comes next?

Same song different chorus
It's stupid, contagious
To be broke and famous
Can someone please save us from punk rock 101
My Dickies your sweatbands
My spiked hair, your new vans
Let's throw up our rock hands for punk rock 101

She bought him a skateboard, a rail slide, his knee tore
He traded it for drums at the local pawn shop
She left him for staring at girls and not caring
When she cried because she thought Bon Jovi broke up

Same song second chorus
It's stupid, contagious
To be broke and famous
Can someone please save us from punk rock 101
My Dickies your sweatbands
My spiked hair, your new vans
Let's throw up our rock hands for punk rock 101

Don't forget to dely...on the very last word

Seven years later he works as a waiter
She married a trucker and he's never there
The story never changes, just the names and faces
Like Tommy and Gina they're living on a prayer

Did you just say that?
I just said

It's stupid, contagious (same song different chorus)
To be broke and famous (same song different chorus)
Can someone please save us from punk rock 101
My Dickies your sweatbands
My spiked hair, your new Vans
Let's shoplift some sweatbands for punk rock 101

My Opinion:ugh, guys shut up. seriously. everybody's gonna have their own opinion on what 'punk' is and if it still exists. personally, i think its still around, but there is no ONE definition to punk. same for punk music. i get called a punk al the time because i have a decent height fauxhawk, i spray paint my clothes, i skate, and listen to the music 'no one else knows about'. i dont really care. and really dont think anybody should label themselves other than to associate themselves w/ the things they enjoy [in reference to my username i enjoy everything from shooter jennings to the ramones, therefore giving people a clue as to my diversity NOT to pose, look 'cool' or show off] bowling for soup is a BAND that plays MUSIC i dont give a shit whether you think they're punk or pop or rock and they probly dont either. listen to the stuff YOU like and dont give in to the stuff people tell you is 'better' if YOU like it listen to it.

General Comment:is "punk" really anything now? i mean people change what it is so much you dont even know...i thought a punk was someone who dosent go by the rules, dosent work, steels and just dosent give a fuck...i mean its really hard for a kid who is at home in his computer and has all the punk gear to be a REAL PUNK,its just not the same...all i know is i listen to punk and punk pop, i really dont care if its populer if i like it thats that,i dont care if a shirt is vans or whatever it is...does that make me a punk? dont know and dont care...anyway this song rocks! and i think he is making fun at punk but whatever.

General Comment:This song cracks me up. Not really sure what genre BFS classify themselves as but I luff this song even though I do quite like Punk Rock music haha. I love the way the lyrics are pretty blunt, that's what makes it so funny whilst others songs dissing "scene" or music genres have lots of metaphors lol. Awesom song. The "living on a prayer...did you just say that?" is my fav part. ^^

General Comment:I think this song is (might be) trying to describe the perception of punk nowadays, and it's like wasted behaviour culture and be ignorant for everything that these people have, but I don't care how people see punk in their eyes, cause every human got his or her own perception of things, I like punk-thingies,I wear red, black, and blue, play skateboards and so ignorant to my boyfriend then if people say I'm punk, whatever ok, but don't blame me if I think their mind are so shallow that they boxes people like dat with such minimum criteria...

General Comment:Ok personally, I don't get why people are going on about how this song is about Bowling For Soup thinking they're punk, or even worse, agreeing with the band saying they wish they could skip Punk Rock 101 to!
This song is making fun of what punk culture has become! It seems to me that the guys, are making fun of the fact that a sub-culture based around anarchy, individuality, and all round hating authority, has become the type of thing, that has rules and regulations about how you can be a member. the song is basically making fun of the fact that punk rock has become so structured, that there's such a thing as 'punk rock 101'. the fact that some people are going "i wouldnt mind being saved from punk rock 101 so i can wear these clothes without feeling like a poser", just proves the ridiculousness of the sub-culture that bowling for soup is making fun of.
don't get me wrong i like punk music (well old punk music, like pre 1984), but i totally see what bowling for soups saying. or i could have gotten it completely wrong.

General Comment:anyone who says this song is not punk n is mad about it needs to shut the hell up
no it's not TYPICAL punk such as hard riffs n scratchy hard to understand vocals
but that's the point of the whole song!
listen to the words carefully and take it all in
it's saying punk is not something you can learn at a place such as "punk rock boot camp" there is no structure for punk

    it just is

this song also makes fun of the bands such as the casualties. Those glam punk type bands.

it's a good song and i respect these guys for it

General Comment:The idea of punk is really funny. Punk is all about being a non conformist, and people who claim that they're punk all listen to the same bands and wear the same clothes, making themselves conformists, and defeating the purpose. NoFX was the last true punk band. Now there's all these pop punk bands (blink-182, Green Day), emo bands (Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance), punk metal bands (The Offspring). True punk is dead.

    General Comment:it's the horrible
"IF A PUNK BAND WRITES ANYTHING BESIDES HORRIBLE SONGS DEALING WITH DRUGS AND FUCKING CHICKS"
attitude that led to extreme fights with Against Me! because they choose to write songs with real meaning about the current political and social issues of today.
    and ps.
    bowling for soup is punk.
    they're corporate rock.
    look it up.
