I'll never take part in the grown population
Or waste my time with further education
To get what we know, is just a big show
Where they want to control
So chained and frustrated
It's all so complicated
Fashion, no passion surrounds me
All I know is I've heard this all before
Reality's a bore (is a bore)
You ask me to believe it (never believe)
Something they provide
Can't bring myself to, do what
You want me to (want me to)
This is who we are and (who we are)
nothing's gonna change, nothing's gonna change
I can't take part in the business revolution
Or take my chance in the real world confusion
Don't blame us, who do we trust when they're so dis-a-honest
No patience, this nation's obsessed with exploitation
Lying, denying surrounds me
All I know is I've heard this all before
Reality's a bore (is a bore)
You ask me to believe it (never believe)
Something they provide
Can't bring myself to, do what
You want me to (want me to)
This is who we are and (who we are)
Nothing's gonna change
(what!) Don't think you can ignore us (ignore us)
Don't tell me your word is right (word is right)
Don't pick a future for us (for us)
We lack 'cause we're involved!!
All I know is I've heard this all before
Reality's a bore (is a bore)
You ask me to believe it (never believe)
Something they provide
Can't bring myself to, do what
You want me to (want me to)
This is who we are and (who we are)
Nothing's gonna change
Thanks for nothing (I've heard this all before),
Thanks for nothing (reality's a bore),
Thanks for nothing (it'll never be the same),
Thanks for nothing (and nothing's gonna change)
Or waste my time with further education
To get what we know, is just a big show
Where they want to control
So chained and frustrated
It's all so complicated

the choruses sound like I'm Not the One
and the bridge sounds like Subject to Change
anyone else realize this?
His eyes are locked on her,
[he is fixated with her from across the room]
Her eyes are fixed elsewhere,
[she hasn't even noticed him]
He's confident, but he's not aware,
[he's high (confident) but out of his face (not aware)]
She doesn't care.
[again, she's not noticed him]
Their only connection, is the silence that they both grasp,
[setting a club scene music so loud you hear nothing else]
he's lost control, but she's not aware, of his stare.
[building tension on previous statements, he's high, she's oblivious]
Everything seems to intimidate him,
[the loss of control under the influence]
with the strobe lights flashing, her body's jolting,
[she's dancing and the strobe and drugs is making her movements seem to jolt]
But cracking, as his eyes, spilt in two, if only she knew...
[he's having a bad reaction to the drugs]
The curtain goes down on him again
[I can imagine him staggering about]
Everything seems to be closing in on her,
[moving towards her]
It feels just like she is being hunted,
[his approach]
But its all right, it's all good,
[he's falling about getting nowhere fast]
She's not aware, of his stare.
[she still doesn't see this fella staggering about]
We've had this date from the beginning
[the “date” is two things his hit and him picking her out]
The curtain goes down on him again
[the guy passes out/OD's]
Who remains when the curtain falls?
[did she notice him then?]
Who remains when the curtain goes down...?
[does he die?]
However, I partly agree with gofuckyourself in that people, generally, do have more respect for you if you've been through college and have a degree (I actually think that if you go through college not willing to make it and drop out several times, you actually lose more of this so called 'respect'). But I think he or she was being a bit to critical. There are many people who make it through their lives, fairly well off too, who did do not go to college. Take the famous example: Bill Gates.
Love this song though, especially the beginning.
