(fake fake flowers) (fake funeral)
This room is a fluorescent tomb:
it's brazen bulbs mimic death's hyena croon.
He pulls on her wires,
she jerks to attention
she's animated again,
she's talking to a hypodermic reflection.
We've watched it all from the window ledge...
the nurses offer their condolences...
tongues flapping I can't make out your tone,
our hearts beat in slow motion.

If we make it to the final scene...(fake flowers!)
show me to the sapphire pit (fake tomb)
peel the candy crust off my body (fake flowers)
throw in the brittle skeleton...(fake tomb)

Because can you inject love's tender touch back into the gang bang?
Can you knit the stiletto back to the bloodstain?
Can you put the bite back in the beast you've broken, tied and tamed?
Can you crease the wrinkles back into the cracked and open brain?
So doctor won't you pull the fucking plug? Won't you cut the cord?
Because you can't put the life back into this hospital ward.

Now she's gonna make it out ok...
but she's shaking like a revolution...
and she stares at the fire all day...
mumbling to herself...
"every hole has a snake in it
every crotch is a Siamese gun
every ray of sunshine hides a cancerous chime
every breath is a bomb"

I'd like to wrap my arms around you like a flesh canopy.
I'd like to take your head, place it somewhere between my shoulders and neck,
but I'm afraid your brittle bones would break.
We can hear the black out orchestra singing...

General Comment:also maybe the 'sapphire pit' is supposed to represent what this person would really want? and the 'brittle skeleton' because they were supposed to go to their real grave sooner?

General Comment:I totally agree with everything here... also the line 'Shes animated again' really i think is meant to emphasize the fact that its the body acting not really the person.

and yeah---really one of my fav. blood brothers songs.

General Comment:this sort of just occured to me, and it goes off of everything already said, but it stills explains a part.

if (fake flowers) we (fake tomb) make it to the final scene,

    - we being everyone in his grandma's life, the final scene being her last hour

show (fake flowers) me (fake tomb) to the sapphire pit.

    - im not really sure what a sapphire pit is, but i think it's asking everyone to let her know that she's dying.

peel (fake flowers) the (fake tomb) candy crust off my body.

    - don't act like there's a chance she'll make it if there isn't, like a comment up top said, i think the candy crust is sugar coating everything.

throw (fake flowers) in (fake tomb) the brittle skeleton.

    - referring to her cremation i think. or being buried.

General Comment:These opinions are all pretty correct. In most all blood brothers songs there are more than one meaning/reference. If this is indeed about Johnny's grandmother, then it sounds like they were keeping her alive but it was acually a worse alternitive. "shes gonna make it out ok, but shes shaking like a revelution!" This sounds like they were keeping her alive but shes shaking (arthritus, seizures). So they are telling the doctor to "cut the fucking chord because you cant put the life back in this hospital ward" meaning to kill her because she'll never be the same again. A double meaning could entail also that you can't bring back the dead, or at least it's unethical. Also about the "jerking on the wires, shes animated again" could mean that patients like johnny's grandmother (vegetables, coma patients) are just puppets and the doctors are the only ones keeping them alive with breathing machines or medication. I dont know if thats right. All I can say is that the blood brothers write some deep fucked up shit...i love it

General Comment:omg. i almost cry when i hear this song. it reminds me of the manga death not because i started to listen to the blood brothers when i read it. anyways, this song is about jordans grandmother and her unfortunate death. supposedly, she was kept alive for a while with machines. and even though she was "saved" from death, she wasnt really alive. which brings up all the metaphors about injecting love into a gangbang because its self contradictory. as well as the other metaphors.
