Lyrics for Haunted as interpreted by rjbucs28

Haunted Lyrics
Long lost words whisper slowly, to me.
Still can't find what keeps me here.
And all this time I've been so hollow inside,
(I know you're still there).

Watching me,
Wanting me,
I can feel you pull me down.
Fearing you,
Loving you,
I won't let you pull me down.

Haunting you, I can smell you, alive
Your heart pounding in my head

Watching me,
Wanting me,
I can feel you hold me down.
Saving me,
Raping me,
Watching me!

Watching me,
Wanting me,
I can feel you pull me down.
Fearing you,
Loving you,
I won't let you pull me down.

Often in songs, the booklet is slightly different, whether because of a last-minute change or simply a misprint. On the first run of the chorus, it's not "I won't let you pull me down", it's "I know I'll find you somehow". Listen carefully, you'll hear it. ^^;;

I agree with goaldengoalie. I also have the CD, and the booklet does say in the first chorus: "Watching me, Wanting me, I can feel you pull me down, Fearing you, Loving you, I won't let you pull me down. If listened to closely, you can hear it.

I can't believe there are hardly any posts on this song, it rocks hard enough to shatter glass. Anyway, this song is defineatly about a dead/lost lover that author is still haunted by the memory of. Much in the same way as in My Immortal.

anyways, sorry to have been... mean up there... i know that there are changes but there was a larger portion wrong than that line you said.

i love this song, i think its about an obsession over a lover or person you just love... even if they dont feel the same.

I think this song is about being in an abusive relationship and not being able to get out, it's like you wanna leave, cuz you now it's bad for you, but you just can't (still can't find waht keeps me here) And even if u leave the relationship, the other person keeps coming back, like they're haunting you.

The song is about the emotional feeling of being raped. The haunting yet repeated images of a war wagered with your mind. How the pains of rape can take over you and you just wish someone could look inside and undertsand it all. How you wish someone can "will it all away". It is about how it sickens you to the soul, makes your mind a living nightmare of the constant reality of being raped. It doesn't matter by who or by what. But just the fact of that living inside you to repeat itself constantly. To be a reminder for all time. Never to escape it.... yet to let it drag you down. To make and imbedded place in your soul and twist your life into one of a living hell bore deep inside you. You are almost in a since of pergatory becuase you can't come to terms with the person you are inside your self. So for the song is about letting those feeling of rape go!!

Which idiot posted the lyrics?
Actually, there are 2 Haunteds, one from a demo with the chorus of "Calling me, Killing me..."

True, SnowWhite_Cinni, I've seen those lyrics of it before. I like your view of it, DRAMAGAL03, I've never heard it interpreted that way before. But it definitely makes sense.

I heard, originally, that it was based on a story where a little girl gets trapped in a haunted house, all alone with a ghost. 10 years later, she's still there, and she's obsessed with trying to find the ghost figure who keeps her there and feeds her so that she can kill it and get back to the real world. The description was so creepy, it was awesome. I found it at an Evanescence fan site, www.crimson-regret.com, so I don't know if that's really the meaning behind it, but yeah.... Cool thoughts on the song =).

Ben wrote this song after reading a story about a girl.

LaDiablo is 100% correct.

i think this song is about someone who was raped and who is afraid that they will be raped again, but they aren't going to let it happen again.

the "I know I'll find you somehow" in the first time the chorus is, is in the 2001-2002 demo version 1 of Haunted (there are 2 demos) the other demo has the same lyrics as the Fallen one (if I remember correctly) the lyrics for Haunted in the Fallen booklet are correct.

I can't agree with DRAMAGAL03's version. I've been raped, and I didn't feel that way. I did like his/her explanation, though, I just don't think the song describes it.

I first thought of this song the same way as DRAMAGAL03 discribed it considering it said right there "saveing me, raping me" But the story about the girl in the haunted house that LaDialo told about seems like another good meaning

I believe the song is about a girl/woman in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship. The song starts off with her basically looking in the mirror of her life and seeing how she's been abused and why she lets him do this to her. Then i think the second verse is the shadow or the voice of the man as he haunts her in her mind. As the song progresses she feels the rapture of her pain, the struggle to free herself from him and be her own woman. Finally at the end of the song she finds the strenght and perseveres gaining back her life.

Lmao, why is it that almost everyone on here thinks that almost all songs are about a lost/scorned lover, or a bad relationship. I mean for f***s sake, if that's all musicians write about I'm going to stop listening to music.
