You know, I love how this video was out the same time Britney Spears' Everytime video was released. Compare the two, I love how similar they are. :) Evanescence is the best at making her look like a dumbass.

I love this song... To me, this song means someone is lieing just to be loved and when the people find out that the faker is lying, the dont love her anymore. Also, I TOTALLY AGREE with EvanescenceROX, Since Amy has her style, that gives no right 4 people to label her...

Kay, granted this squabble was months ago, I just got here, so I think I have something to say... And it is 2:05 am... man on tv, I found it funny you bash a band with depth to their songs, and say 50 Cent deserved the Grammy... Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't his claim to fame based purely off the fact that he "got shot 9 times"?. He didn't deserve the Grammy because his 'hit' song started by saying "Come on shorty, it's your birthday, we're gonna party like it's your birthday". riiight, because that's cool. And how exactly do you decide who is, and is not goth/punk? I mean, isn't punk what you make of it, anyways? Besides, isn't it better then some white kid walking around with his pants around his ankles, talking like he's from the Ghetto? Fo Shizzle Bizzle.

As for the song, there are... many different interpretaions to it, none more interesting then that Babylon one, which I will finish edventually. I love the song, she has an amazing voice, and unlike 50, I can understand what the f*** she is saying.

And I agree, beating up the biotches on the elevator would have made it the best video of all time. Instead it must settle for 2nd place, just infront of My Immortal and just behind Bring Me To Life... #1 you may ask? Going Under...Duh...

I didn't exactly get this song until I saw the video....now I can't stop listening to it OR watching the video. It's about instead of selling your soul in order to gain fame or fortune, you should be yourself. Although Amy looked really pretty in that video, she looks even more beautiful WITH black hair and weird clothes. And everyone knows that's the real Amy. Amy Lee is real, Britney Spears is a fake.

P.S. I actually know some people who HATE Evanescence....LOSERRRRRRS!

Evanescence means to disappear or vanish like vapor. they liked the meaning of it so they picked it. evanescence is not a christian band what-so-ever. nothing about their band name or music or lyrics is based on religous beliefs.. this song was written by amy, she wrote it because her little sister idolized all those cheap slutty cracker box stars like britney spears and christina aguilara and she didnt want her sister trying to be like them because they were so fake and selling out just doing what they thought people wanted to see...

alright for the people who think amy lee is fat: she is not. I've only seen one instance where she looks even the slightest bit fat and that was when she was wearing one of those shirts where little patches of skin (that sounds really nasty) are supposed to show at the sides where the two halves of the shirt are supposedly held together. (these shirts on anyone with more than 0% body fat make you look a little bit fat)
I also think amy lee looks EXTREMELEY attractive in the one part in this music video where she is being photographed on the couch and she has green contacts on. (she looks absolutely stunning)

well anyways, this song is basically saying that amy lee did all these things like commercials which promoted products that were lies and made her become someone she isn't or in other words: a lie. Now she regrets it and yadda yadda yadda there's a couple of dumn bitches in an elevator and then the hottest form of amy lee I've ever seen and an amy lee with pink hair doing a commercial for a doll of her somewhere in asia and then the video's over and you look for a different video of something like points of authority by linkin park because even though the song isn't great imo, the music video is the coolest video I've ever seen besides kyur 4/th ich because that one had breakdancing. ok I'm getting off subject but the point of my post is that amy lee is not fat and can be one of the most beutiful women I've ever seen if she dresses right and her song is cool. The end.

i know this is late but, Evanescense is talentless, and Stacey, The whole "if evanesnce is talentless how come they won a grammy" makes you sound so stupid. winning a grammy doesnt make you a good musician. michael jackson won grammys. the beatles refused to except some of there grammys. simon and garfunkle did to. Grammys=Nothing. Most artists who win grammys suck.

This isn't really my space to talk, because I'm not really into the whole Evanescence thing, I find their songs very similar and lackluster, but that's just my opinion. I clicked on this because, well, it was on the latest comment section, so I figured that I'd give it a read. One, the Grammys are rigged, basically. In 1989, Jethro Tull beat out Metallica's "...And Justice For All" for "Best Metal Album". Now, you've got to be a complete idiot to consider Jethro Tull metal. So that proves the Grammy's legitimacy, or rather, lack of legitimacy. Two, you can define punk. The so-called "punk" scene today is basically manufactured by Hot Topic and record companies, because, as we all know, Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance (Who, as many know, stole their cover picture almost directly from Mad Season's "Above") are very, very punk rock compared to certain bands like The Clash, The Misfits, Sex Pistols, etc. You can spew that bullshit about how genres change, but its not punk anymore, what they play is pop rock, essentially. It is basically a bunch of pubescant teens trying to act cool, or think that it's so heart wrenching when they break up, and that no one understand their pain. I call that, "horseshit". Also, if you think I'm siding with the suburban white kid who listens to 50 Cent, Eminem, etc., I'm not. Those kids have no idea what the hell they are listening to, and how its ruining music itself. If they think it gets them in with the "brothas", it doesn't, believe me. Three, the last time I saw Amy Lee, she wasn't exactly of average weight. I'm not saying she's fat, cause she's not fat, she was just a bit husky. Fourth, and finally, just cause you name your band something bland or original, doesn't mean you're a rebel, unless you name it something like the band Dying Fetus did, cause they are forever socially scorned. So, no, Evanescence isn't edgy or original because of their band name, it's just a name.

i agree with the whole grammy thing meaning nothing. but also reali no one can say that the grammy winners are the ones that suck. you mean to tell me that sum one u like or liked never won a grammy. that doesn't mean ne thing cuz ppl disagree to much wit music. like i said, amy isn't the skinniest yea u can say but chunky or "pleasantli plump" (lol) or "husky", however u call it is fine and that weight can b fine. fat is such a strong word. i think that the name evanescence kinda stands out (not like omg awesome name, so completeli orginal!) . but honestli do u ever hear ne one say that word in their vocabulary? and u have to admit that sumtimes names can b too similar.

this song is amazing. it reflects so much on facades, maskes we put on day after day to hide what we're thinking and feeling. this line is espcially good: "without the mask, where will you hide?"i can relate to it really well.
