DyingNovae, I wrote my comment before the music video ever came out but your approach to it seems very good (and of course it supports the video). Anyone who loves Evanescence must SEE THIS VIDEO NOW! It is very creepy and has some twists that just make you think what kind of world is constantly trying to subject us!

The general thought is that when Babylon rises again close to Revelation, people will worship other people, seeing ourselves as God

Babylon is depicted in the Bible(not shure about the Torah) as being part of Satan's mockery of God, hence she is a liar(Ill explain why I say she in a moment)
-"Never was and Never Will Be" God in the Bible and Torah is described as He that was, Is, and Will Be forever more, this phrase more clearly delegates that Babylon is a passing thing,and will meet its end with due time
-"Have you no shame dont you see me" The Bible says when Babylon exists again it will be hedonism 24/7 and no one will feel shame, remorse, regrette, and everything will be filled with a sick kind of chaos

i think that the whole religion thing could be true but is taking it too far. Amy, ithink of course i cant speak for her, was showing that the bands fame hasnt been as easy as we see it and that a famous life sucks because you are misprecived and overrated

I really love this song, and the meaning behind it, she wrote it for her sister when she began to become one of the "OMG Britney's the best" kinda girl, it'a about how the image the popworld sends is terribly wrong, and everything is fake, so basically this song is about Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera (and other's in that same category)

Amen to that! It's funny because Amy Lee isn't even fat. She just happens to "look fat" to some people just because they have put such a standard of looks for celebrities to "bone thin and crumbling."

Amy Lee is short but seeing her on stage, she doesn't look fat at all. I'd place her right on the line of thin above the bone thin.

For example: Sarah Michelle Gellar. Now that is bone thin and to me she doesn't even look attractive now that she is that way. But that's my opinion.

Amy is so cool because she doesn't dress in teeny boppin' underwear and she has a normal weight.

I loved this song, and I loved it a thousand times more once I watched the music video. I watch it all the time, and have even written stories based on it.
Also, AMY LEE IS NOT FAT! Just because she isn't skinny (and believe me, I know skinny. I had this intestine problem and threw up within two hours of eating ANYTHING and blah-blah-blah...the end result is that I was 5'8' and weighed less than eighty pounds) doesn't mean she's ugly. She's beautiful, and anybody who calls her fat is obviously one of those idiots who finds anorexia attractive.
Besides, she's an amazing singer and this was a great movie. So even if she is fat (WHICH SHE ISN'T!!!) I don't give a damn.

hey i love evanescence coz they make great music and their songs ACTUALY mean something like this one is too true about people being not all their cracked up to be and people should just stop trying to be someone their not.

I see it as a struggle inside. Amy is becoming big, a Rock Goddess as she has stated herself. Yet she sees what she can become "fake". It is also showing what the music business and the media does to people such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. They might look flawless and perfect on tv but on the inside they are still filled with pain and hurt. It also states when someone becomes an idol, they end up hurting the people they love bc they think they become better than them. Amy shows in the video that when all is said and done that they will eventually wake up and find that they are not that glamorous on the inside.

I was totally on to that "Babylon" thing from the very moment I heard it a few years ago. OK I didnt actually think Babylon, rather the whole 'badness of Earth'. the way the planet has turned out, doesnt she have lovely temptations and superficialities?
That being said, this song is older than the video (which I havent seen yet, I will LAUNCH it) So I dont know how it effects the meaning.
But it is sad how shallow the song seems to people, that will never understand how deep it is.
The whole album seems like a storybook to me.
