Lyrics for Everybody's Fool as interpreted by rjbucs28

Everybody's Fool Lyrics
Perfect by nature
Icons of self indulgence
Just what we all need
More lies about a world that

Never was and never will be
Have you no shame? Don't you see me?
You know you've got everybody fooled

Look, here she comes now
Bow down and stare in wonder
Oh, how we love you
No flaws when you're pretending
But now I know she

Never was and never will be
You don't know how you've betrayed me
And somehow you've got everybody fooled

Without the mask, where will you hide?
Can't find yourself lost in your lie

I know the truth now
I know who you are
And I don't love you anymore

Never was and never will be
You don't know how you've betrayed me
And somehow you've got everybody fooled

It never was and never will be
You're not real and you can't save me
And somehow now you're everybody's fool

This song is about a person who evry1 loves, but you know is superficial ('No flaws when you're pretending', 'Without the mask where will you hide') and is pulling the wool over evry1's eyes.

Without a doubt my favorite song on the cd. Amy Lee's voice is just amazing.

I've listened to this song so many times not because it's her greatest song ever (even thought it's definitely up there) but it's the ultimate "tell a person off" song!

This is about a person that everyone sees as so perfect on the outside but by superficial nature this person is lost in fear and the uglyness is kept underneath a shell--a "flawless" facade.

And so while so many people like sheep "Bow down and stare in wonder" this person knows the truth of her.

Over and over I can relate to this and that's why I'm always going back to listening to this song. I'm a person who is empathic (able to detect other people's feelings -- kind of like psychic except on an emotional level) and so I see so much of the truth of others. Especially somebody I'm in a relationship with. And most of the time I can see how they appear so strong and beautiful, but inside they have internal conflicts and uglyness.

Everyone holds things inside of them to a certain degree. If it's not dealt with sometime in their life then it starts to fester and eat them alive. A person can only hide for so long.

"You don't know how you've betrayed me "

This person was hurt by this "perfect" person. And she sees just how ugly the person is.

I love the ending to this song. Because now the person will sooner or later be exposed and now she is "everybody's fool"

Uglyness can seriously be dealt with. I have taken a long journey inside of me to deal with past regrets, suffering, and aggression. From the time you're a child depending on who you are, you carry the pain within you and sometimes it never heals. Not until you deal with it. It takes time but it is so worth it.

This song is a great song. Agreeing with chino69, this song reveals how ugly a person can be "without the mask".

I have to add another 2 cents because this song is so awesome (so powerful!):

"Just what we all need
More lies about a world that
Never was and never will be"

Like that's all we want, another person living a lie to add to the fakeness of what our society so blindly takes in. LIke the false prophet, its just one more person that tries to sway us, that decieves us, tears us away from what is really true.

I think its basically just raw, aggressive emotion being freed.

"Look here she comes now. Bow down and stare in wonder. Oh how we love you."

You can just hear the frustration, jealousy, anger and spite in those words. Its like Amy is just telling the girl everything that she despises about her. Its the dream of every "outsider" to tell a "popular" girl something like this, and I know this song will become an anthem for freedom for the repressed.

i believe this song is about the popular one everyone knows and loves, and how someone discovers that persons deepest secret: s/he is really an insecure and depressed and scared little child.

The part of the song where Amy Lee sings "I Know The Truth Now..." is awesome.

Ummmm no it's definitley about herself. She's tired of faking and pretending to be beautiful and talented when really she hates herself. The music video illustrates this amazingly, especially where she's in all the commercials, and where she's yelling at herself in the mirror. If you look at the lyrics it can go both ways, but the video really shows her self hatred and that where she seems to be mocking pop icons, she's really mocking herself.

It's about herself. She wouldn't be so depressed if it was other people. And plus, for the video she used herself as the "stars". She knows she's a fake.

I love the beat of this song. "Look. Here. She comes now. Bow down and stare in wonder. Oh. How. Welove you." Ah! It's so real. and blur of colors, so what if its about herself? At least she's honest about who she really is unlike some people *cough britneyspears cough*

I agree with DyingNovae .. I used to think, that the song was about this little picture-perfect girl, who everyone adored. But inside she was nothing.

And yes, it IS about that, but it's more about not feeling good enough, and people thinking, that you're perfect, when you're really not. It's about Amy Lee herself, and that, you can also see in the video.

A cool song :)

This video ISN'T about Amy Lee herself. This is written in the point of view from one of her sisters. Amy wrote this song after she found out who her sister looks up to is a total and complete fake. Hence the lyrics: "I know the truth now, I know who you are, and I don't love you anymore," and "Your not real and you can't save me."

Amy only had one sister, and she died at the age of three.

I know that her sister, Bonnie, died at the age of three. Amy has three more siblings who are alive: Laurie, Carrie, and Robbie.
Its proven, you can see pictures on Evboard.com and a clip of Robbie on Cartoon Network. Amy has also mentioned what a terrific writter Carrie has become.

Amy Lee not on ly in this song, but in all of her songs delivers a unique view on her life, and the REALITY of our world. She does not represent anything close to skanks/sluts/hoes (whatever u wanna call them) like Britaney Spears Christina Aguilera. So for all of u who think that Amy Lee from Evanescence is modeling herslef after those lo-down, hoe imaged, plastic and in future need of vocal surgery artists, step back and think again.

this is a really powerful and striking song.It fast became one of my faves.I haven't seen the video yet,i would like to, but i think i would agree that it is about almost like a split personality. She's a different person for everyone else, just so they will accept and adore her,but she has betrayed who she really is and the fake she has created is not real and cant save her from the ridicule and harshness of the real world. She knows the truth, that its all a lie and she hates herself for it and in the end she will just end up looking like a fool.

this is a really amazing powerful song, and coupled with the vid it's just wow! it's almost like the core ideas of "the beauty myth" (naomi wolfe) have been transformed into song... i have not been so moved by a concept in some time...

Amy wrote this for her sister Carrie. Not about her, but for her. It's about Amy herself.

Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera's pop images have come under fire again from Evanescence star Amy Lee, who pokes fun at their packaged looks in the new video "Everybody's Fool."

Lee admits she wrote the song after realizing her little sister had become obsessed with Britney back in 1999.

And now she's having fun with the video - dressing up as a 1950s blonde, a Japanese doll, a classic beauty and a tough biker girl to prove that not everyone is who they seem to be.

She says, "My little sister was really getting into these really fake, cheesy, slutty like female cracker box idols and it really p***ed me off."

"She started dressing like her (Britney) and she's like eight years old, so I gave her the talk and I wrote a song."

"The video is kind of like exposing that it's fake, and exposing the real behind-the-scenes of some of these people. It's basically showing a glamorous lifestyle and the depressed selfish misery behind it."
