I am the son and the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
How dare you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

I am the son and the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
How dare you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

There's a club if you'd like to go you
Could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go, and you stand on your own and
You leave on your own and you go home,
And you cry and you want to die.

When you say it's gonna happen "now",
When exactly do you mean? see I've already
Waited too long and all my hope is gone

You shut your mouth
How dare you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

General Comment:Even though the Smiths version is probably my all-time favourite song, I still really like this one, partly because it's the one that introduced me to t.A.T.u in the first place. The cut-down instrumental and the heavier guitar sound work well. The only real annoying thing is that their voices sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks on helium at times...

General Comment:You shut your mouths, how can you say they go about things the wrong way?
    Nuff said don't you think?

Don't hear anybody complaining about Quicksand's version of the song, hey?

General Comment:I personally find this song amazing, and I disagree with RollerskateDisco. True, I've never heard the orginal version, but really, who cares if they do a cover of a song?
    :/
They found the song amazing. They wanted to record their own version of the song. So what?
And I also disagree about them 'not knowing the meaning of the song', because when I first listened to this song, I immediantly thought this song was obviously about them telling homophobes to stop saying that them being together is wrong because they love each other, and that people shouldn't judge them because of their sexuality. Or, to state it simply, love is love, no matter what the gender.

General Comment:The smiths version is way better. The vocals yes it sounds like chipmunks at times.I don't think they even knew the smiths were the writers of this song.reminds me of when crazytown covered refused's "new noise".I liked braid's cover of this charming man so I'm not against covers but this is bad.

General Comment:Now I'm not a Moz purist, and covers of songs can be very interesting.

But seriously, with all due respect....does anyone remember those "Chipmunk Punk" and "Urban Chipmunk" novelty albums in the late 1970's-early 1980's???

(Note to non-USA readers: there was a cartoon called Alvin And The Chipmunks, featuring, you guessed it, pet anthropomorphic chipmunk performers, and their manager / owner, Dave.)

I was wondering if someone had rediscovered the idea. Can you just see TATU's manager acting like "Dave"? "Pay attention, Yulia ... YULIA ... YULIA!!!"

General Comment:What's wrong is people that have no sense of music that was made prior to 2000 think that these 2 wrote this song, which is just a shame to Morrissey, who is one of the greatest songwriters in history.
