Barely able to keep the lids open
At times I might think I need the rest
but who would want to go back there?
It's already hard enough to say I need it.
bad memories and good times.
Keep me from believing that I can still jump off.
No longer, no longer the same.
you grow accustomed to seeing the sun in a different location.
Standing still becomes a chore.
Anxious to get the pavement moving.
The easy solution to this and everything else is to move on.
It comes equipped with the last word.
they find ways to drag you along
and dismantle what you created.
It's already hard enough to say I need it
Bad memories and good times.
Keep me from believing that I can still jump off.
No longer, no longer the same.
You grow accustomed to seeing the sun in a different location.
Standing still becomes a chore.
Anxious to get the pavement moving.
Happiness is not having to lie on the floor dead alone.

General Comment:i think this song is about meeting a long lost girlfriend and realizing you still love her, "jump off" is a metaphor for like...getting over the girl...

General Comment:I really like how so many different meanings come from different people. It makes me wonder if these are what people think the songs mean, or what they mean to them. For the meaning I'm about to list, it's more about a meaning for me; however emotional it may be.

I really think that this song is about losing someone very near and dear to you. About moving on, living the life without them. Losing a large part of your life, and moving on with it. And then constantly revisiting the memories, however painful it may be. There are some people in life that when lost, life seems impossible, yet somehow we still manage.

Anyway, shortly after hearing about a very close friend of mine's death, I got in my car, turned on whatever music was playing. It was this, and with every word I shed more tears.

Song Meanings aren't always the same to different people, but it's definately nice to read how people interpret the same words into different meanings. Kepp it going!

General Comment:I think the song is about meeting someone again for the first time, just like the title says. The person he’s meeting again, could be someone he use to date and she moved away. Like when it says, “you grow a custom to seeing the sun in a different location.” I think maybe he still might have feelings for her, “sometimes I think I may need the rest, but who would want to go back there?” maybe it was a bad relationship, and he doesn’t want to go back to having a bad relationship with her. “Bad memories and good times” Even though they had a bad relationship, they still had some good times. “ It’s already hard enough to say I need it!” He’s having a hard time telling her he still likes her. “Keep me from believing that I can still jump off” maybe he was suicidal. Just use your imagination for the rest in this point of view, to me it makes sense, because I am going through it now. That’s probably why I love this song so much, if it’s about what I wrote, I can definitely relate. Me being in his point of view that is.

General Comment:I'm not sure about this, but i think this song is about suicide/murder, after something tragic happened to them, but maybe not deciding to commit suicide. "Barely able to keep the lids open" - the person cannot look down below.. (he/she's on the top floor of a building..)
    "bad memories and good times.
Keep me from believing that I can still jump off." - as I said, the person's on the top of a building.
"Standing still becomes a chore." - Getting sick of life, because you stand up and walk to places...
"Anxious to get the pavement moving." - Jumping off the building... and when people see that person, they move. away.
as i said, it may not be suicide-related because of this: "Happiness is not having to lie on the floor dead alone. " I may be wrong, but oh well...

General Comment:I finally bought You Come Before You.. and man i couldnt be happier. This is the first song that i hadnt already had off the album that i have completely listened to.. and i adore it. Poison The Well is my fave band of all time.. they are the best. Im currently after a shirt of theirs but their is only the "zombie" one and it looks shit compared to the other ones i know they have, i also want them to come back down to Aus so i can see em.. apparently not too long ago they played at Big Day Out.. but i missed it.. so im waiting for the next gig they do.

General Comment:when i first heard this song i sort of thought it was about someone who is not emotionally stable and needs their pills but they have a tendancy to overdose hence the line, "but who would want to go back there" because they can't control themselves, but after reading other comments I'd have to agree with the whole being on the road with the band thing
