Am I loud and clear or am I breaking up?
Am I still your charm or am I just bad luck?
Are we getting closer or are we just getting more lost?
I'll show you mine if you show me yours first
Let's compare scars I'll tell you whose is worse
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our own words
We live on front porches and swing life away
We get by just fine here on minimum wage
If love is a labor I'll slave 'til the end
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand
I've been here so long I think that it's time to move
The winters so cold summers over too soon
Lets pack our bags and settle down where palm trees grow
And I've got some friends some that I hardly know
We've had some times I wouldn't trade for the world
We chase these days down with talks of the places that we will go
I'll show you mine, if you show me yours first.
Let's compare scars, I'll tell you who's is worse.
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our own words.
We live on front porches and swing life away
We get by just fine here on minimum wage
If love is a labor I'll slave ?til the end
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand
Swing life away
Swing life away
Swing life away
Swing life away
Am I still your charm or am I just bad luck?
Are we getting closer or are we just getting more lost?
I'll show you mine if you show me yours first
Let's compare scars I'll tell you whose is worse
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our own words
We live on front porches and swing life away
We get by just fine here on minimum wage

Swing life away
Swing life away
Swing life away

Friend love is best love, because neither person wants anything more from the other person than the sam love right back. Friend love.
"I'll show you mine, if you show me yours first,
Let's compare scars, I'll tell you whose is worse."
It's about always having that one friend who you can tell anything to and knowing they wont judge you and will always understand. And you and that friend just "Swing Life Away" just as God intended.
"ill show you mine if you show me yours first
lets compare scars ill tell you whose is worse"
this sounds like teenagers talking with teenagers telling each other their stories and comparing within themselves... trying to find out who has the worst story/life.
"i been here so long i think that its time to move
the winters so cold summers over too soon
lets pack our bags and settle down where palm trees grow
and ive got some friends some that i hardly know"
if you have what i talked about in mind then this makes a lot of sense!!! they move around a lot and they dont really know their friends. they move place to place where the weather isnt that bad so they can survive...
im not sure just an oppinion :P
This is about love---simple, pure, and if someone had wrote it for me, I would fall into their arms!
There's a reason why he talks about "holding [her] hand, and "love is a labor." The whole song talks about the crappy life they have: "we live on front porches and swing life away, we get by just fine here on minimum wage." He's a slave for love, and is willing to move around the world in hope of "finding palm trees." He "swings" his life away in hope of finding his own little imaginary paradise -- his palm trees, with his love. But life isn't that simple; life isn't a fairytale -- he's only going to get more scars from throwing his life away as simply as that. for a love that might not even be right.
It seems to fit the idea of young love -- people get too caught up in their little fantasies, and throw away their futures thinking that everything would turn out fine.
