Soon as you came in, all the beast went away.
They noticed that you're warm wait till you leave then come back for more

The ropes hang to keep us all awake
And I should have known

As soon as you came in, the agony it went away
I noticed what you wore, to everything we spoke and more

The ropes hang to keep us all awake
And I should have known

It only takes one break of your pose to get off
To save our place, home with you, still the same song
As soon as you came in, is when I believe we both crashed course

The ropes hang to keep us all awake
And I should have known.

It only takes one break of a pose to get off
And to save our place home with you all
That's all it takes?
Well I should have known
It's still the same song
It's still the same song

General Comment:i believe this song is about a person finding comfort in another person...and when that special person leaves is like his world of misery shows up again...so the hangin ropes represent the idea of suicide...which he could easily committ...but instead he sees them as something to inspire him to keep goin instead of givin up

General Comment:One night i was trippin n listinin to this song and it suddenly made so much sense. I'm sure he is speaking about how his life is seeming pointless and depressing until he let God into his life. "As soon as you came in all the beasts went away" Once he felt the belief of god in him his life seemed to rise from the cold and darkness. "And the ropes hang to keep us all awake and i should have known" I'm sure he's referring to ropes as in nueses, as in hangings, as in death, which is saying that the constant reminder of death on everybody's mind is what keeps us constantly striving for more and waking up everyday. Death in an unbeliever's mind might seem as their worst nightmare referring back to the beginning of the song when he didn't have God in his life, but after he let God in, death to him seemed to change from his worst nightmare to a more justifiable part of his life. Deftones seemed to have always had songs that were strongly pressed towards the lord God and i like the way they put themselves in the shoes of the many people who struggle with what to believe in this crazy time. DEFTONES 4 LIFE!

General Comment:this sounds like a song about Chino doing coke with someone, possibly his lady ya know?

the beast can = his fiending
warm = you get hot when yayed out
the ropes hang to keep us all awake = coke keeps you up
takes one brake(off the rock) to fall

same song= he's doing the same stuff over and over and he cant seem to break it ya know?

General Comment:it could be about a girl..

as soon as they met he knew she was different, everything he ever wanted.. they are the same song. but that didnt erase everything from his past. addictions maybe.. sex, drugs, w/e.. the beasts. when he sees her nothing else matters, but when she's gone its hard to be strong and resist. the ropes apply because maybe its so unbelievable to find someone this way and finally feel good with another person, that it seems like a dream.. but he hangs himself on his addiction/pain..its hurting him, but its been his reality up to this point, it keeps him "awake" in his mind.

maybe things happened too fast between them.. but he remembers the smallest details, what she wore, bits of conversations & of course sex together was amazing [the way cyanide explained].. or maybe the smallest mannerism, a smile, a look.. one break of her pose & he melts. he wasnt ready for all of it, maybe she wasnt either but they couldnt deny it. crash course. maybe he pushed her away or his addictions, maybe another girl or his fear, kept him away and also hurt her unintentionally.

but in the end, he should have known.. should have seen.. with her, he's home.. even after everything, they're still the same song

General Comment:That's weird that you say it sounds like sex because in my opinion Deftones has the best music to have sex to.

General Comment:I don't think this song is about sex or relationships.
    I think it's about God.

"Soon as you came in, all the beast went away"
When someone is sick or dying people want God to take the pain, anger, fear ( beasts ) away.

"They noticed that you're warm, wait till you leave then come back for more" People use the "Go with God" theme for peace but he always comes back for more.

"The ropes hang to keep us all awake.."
Rope hangs = awaited death. To keep us all awake = alive, aware of time/death.

"I noticed what you wore to everything we spoke and more.."
I just got a wolf in sheep's clothes vibe.

"It only takes one break of your pose to get off.."
    Basically an idle God.

"to save our place.. home with you.."
God want his children with him.

    "still the same song"
The way Chino sings that line just sounds so heart breaking. So tired of it just repeating.

"As soon as you came in is when I believe we both crashed course"
Loss of faith or despising God because of loss and suffering.

I could be wrong but I don't think I am. ;) And it's Deftones, of course their music sounds like sex.

General Comment:I think this song is about hope and faith in a time of despair. All the internal strife doubt and agony (beast) allayed as soon as faith arrived.
