How neat...
I'm impressed...
How did you come to be... So blessed?
You're a star
You blaze...out like a sharp machine...
Like a whales moan...
I'm here if that's what you want!

Here we are! You're pins, I'm needles... Lets play...
Here we are! You want this? Then come on...

Tune out!
Everyone in the crowd, because now it's just me and you!
Come fall in love with the sound!
Make a pact to each other!
When no ones around
Put the cross between me and you!
Who wants to fuck with us now?

Here we are! You're pins, I'm needles... Lets play...
Here we are! You want this? Then come on...

Tune out!
Everyone in the crowd, because now it's just me and you!
Come fall in love with the sound!
Make a pact to each other!
When no ones around
Put the cross between me and you!
Who wants to fuck with us now? x3

My Interpretation:I know it's stupid to try and fit meanings to deftones songs anyway, but my interpretation of the song is related to sex.
How neat, I'm impressed could relate to someone liking what they see.
Needles and Pins could be about how you get pins and needles when you stay in a certain position for so long.

General Comment:I'm 15 and to me it's like...I see all these bullshit relationships around me, people who say they date and just kind of dabble around, half giving a shit and half not. I see it in adults, cheating and lying. Romantic relationships to me are a pact. Where you can tune out everyone in the crowd (not cheat on each other or fuck around with other people). The beginning lyrics are like the first interests, the things you like, that impress you, seeing the perks.

"Well I'm here if that''s what you want" - Simply putting it out there. Getting things started.

"Make a pact to each other when no one's around." - Don't have the relationship for show. It's real.

The pins and needles thing, to me they just go together. Like two people. And nobody can fuck with what they have.

This song is what a relationship should be, a pact, not for show, something real, where two people know exactly what they want. That's just what this says to me.

General Comment:It was about you and me. You were pins. I was needles. We played. You wanted that, then you came on. We tuned out everyone in the crowd. Because then it was just me and you. We fell in love with the sound. Made a pact to each other, when no one was around. You put the cross between me and you. No one fucked with us then. We were.

General Comment:Love to read everyone's interpretations... I don't think anyone mentioned this though:

I buy the man/woman interpretation b/c well, pins have heads and needles have holes. Doesn't get any more explanatory than that. ;)

General Comment:Chino writes about his bandmates all the time- half of Saturday Night Wrist is about them- lol! Chi Cheng even went on record saying he knew Chino wrote Hole in the Earth about the rest of them. His exact quote was something along the lines of- "call it whatever you want- hell- call it fuck chi cheng if you want- just finish the f'ing record!".

I think its very probable this song is about him and Steph for a few reasons. One of the biggest is that Chino tends to focus on a few general themes for each album and the self titled has a very strong lyrical conotation in regards to performing and the fans. This song seems to celebrate that pact they have when they're on stage. I mean even the phrase pins and needles references that tingling sensation when a resting limb wakes up (excitement?). I think it starts out on a darker note about their relationship and ends on a positive one in that he feels they're invincible when they're on the same page. I dont think calling him blessed or a star is exactly what youd call complimentary at that point in the verse. I think hes questioning the self confidence and headiness that Steph has been known to project and he resolves it by saying Im here if thats what you want- he'll follow if the pact is true.

One last tidbit I took from it. Steph is a heavy heavy dope smoker so the whole piece of imagery about blazing out like a sharp machine stands out as a piot reference to me. Could be wrong but thats my take...

General Comment:this song is about marriage hence this line....

"Tune out everyone in the crowd because now it's just me and you"

probably refering to the crowd of family and friends in a church or whereever watching the ceremony.

General Comment:I think this song is about two talented people joining forces.
In stead of being jelaous of this other person's gift, Chino is impressed by the person and he aknowlodges his own talent, so he knows that by the tow of them joinig together they make like this überteam.
