It's about time that I came clean with you
I'm no longer fine, I'm no longer running smooth
I thought that I'd found myself onto something new
Just one more line I repeat over and over again

'Til I'm blue in the face with a choking regret
As I talk in circles 'round you on my bed
Can't say I blamed you one bit when you kept it all inside
When you left that night

It's about time that you got sick of me
No longer fun and so far from interesting
I thought that I found me a cure for feeling old
Just one more line to keep me sleeping loudly and cold

In disgrace with a shameful regret
As I speak in tongues to myself in my bed
Can't say I blamed you one bit when you kept it all inside
When you left that night

And all that followed fell like mercury to hell
Somehow we lost our heads for the last time
And all that followed fell like mercury to hell
Somehow we lost our heads for the last time

And I don't dream since I quit sleeping
No I haven't slept since I met you

And you can't breathe without coughing at daytime
Neither can I so what do you say?
Your coffin or mine?

General Comment:Aww, come on, man. Yeah, it might seem like it's about drug abuse, but it's just a freaking metaphor. He's not addicted to something, he's addicted to someone.

"It's about time that you got sick of me
No longer fun and so far from interesting"
It's not the drug that got "far from interesting", it's Matt, for that girl. Drugs usually don't get sick of you.
Besides, both verses end with talking to someone, who left. Do drugs leave? No.
"And you can't breathe without coughing at daytime, and neither can I"
This is the only line that I can't explain, how it fits into my theory. But I can totally relate to this, cause I'm in a really similar situation, like severing a wicked hand. And i cantotally relate to these lyrics. It's brilliant.

General Comment:Most of their songs are about being dopesick/hooked on drugs. I know they're not personally addicted them, but he's just talking to cocaine or heroine not a girl. "And I don't dream since I can't sleeping, and I haven't slept, since I met you." If you're addicted to cocaine, you can't sleep. If you are getting off cocaine, you can't sleep. It's a monologue to drug abuse and how it's an epidemic in this country.

General Comment:I understand this song can easily be about drugs but I really think it's about being rejected by a person you love...
"Just one more line I repeat over and over again" - this could be seen as line of coke but I think he means line "I love you" which he keeps telling to a girl but the girl (who may be living with him?) decides that she doesn't love him and leaves him and he regrets it... The outro would be about the same feeling, shame and sadness home alone and at the end it might be really meant like a joke (your coffin or mine) - after we both die and you finally start loving me we'll meet there? just my thoughts

General Comment:this song is about not being able to quit heroin. there is no girl involved he is singing to the addiction. he knows that if he continues his relationship with this drug he will die. So he is trying to explain to the heroin and himself why he needs to leave it behind (Because I talk in circles 'round you on my bed/As I talk in tongues to myself in my bed.) But once he has convinced himself it's the right thing to do and actually quits he becomes really sick. this sickness is the only hold the drug has on him any more. the last breath of his addiction if you will which explains the line (you can't breathe without coughing at day time) the withdrawl is too much for him to handle so he gives in to it (and neither can i, so what do you say your coffin or mine?) I'm not saying that matt skiba is or ever was a junkie. that's not the point. It could just be an idea he had, or something he saw a friend go through. not every song is directly about or related to the people singing it.

General Comment:i never really heard of skiba having a coke addiction and ive been listening to them since 98. Its obviously a drug referenced song with an element of it affecting his relationship. Cross addiction is common in users however if you have ever been addicted to anything you would know that cocaine has no physical withdrawl only mental. Hes obviously singing about going thru withdrawl because when you w/d from heroin or opiates sleep is next to near impossible and lol just cuz he says"just one more line..." u can snort heroin in lines also you dont always have to shoot it which non users only associate dope w/ using a needle to shoot up. And after he says just one more line he also says something about being cold which is a symptom of heroin w/d not cocaine cuz as i stated above coke has no physical withdrawl. This is y i believe he is singing about being addicted to heroin guys..alk3 is one of my all time fav bands and i love all albums but goddamnit has to be my fav. This is y i love their lyrics cuz i can relate to all of it the drugs and relationships and whatnot everything they both write is super deep emotionally and extremely metaphorical. U may think its about cocaine use but listen to the song and then what i have mentioned and you will know its about herion and not coke!

General Comment:The drug reference part hit me just as the line I was snorting off their case during the playing of this song on my stereo.back in '03. I'm pretty sober now other than beer ... etc

General Comment:With this song it doesn't really matter what it is about, because it's so brilliant.
I love how crooked and broken Matt's voice sounds in this song. Makes it more believable. Like he's going through a rough time and seriously sounding like he is. Awesome.

General Comment:i mean the song can mean whatever you want it to, i like your theory though. "I repeat over and over again" instead of meaning lines in a song but repeatably playing show after show

My Interpretation:Ok, so I'm not so dense as not to get the coke reference, but does anyone else think that it's also the perfect metaphor for being in a band?

Just one more line (lines in a song)

Cure for feeling old (young people loving and respecting you for your music)

No longer fun (always on the road or working, never having time for anything else)

I repeat over and over again (lines in a song often repeat)

I know this song is about coke, but there are definitely other ways of looking at it and to me this is a good one.

General Comment:To me it sounds like a couple that's been together for so long that nothing's fun anymore. It's always the same old, same old and neither of them wanted to tell the other that they felt that way about it. But in the end, when she does tell him, he doesn't blame her for feeling that way or keeping it to herself. Aaaand, they end on good terms, when he says "your coffin or mine?", like...it isn't the end for them.
