I think more or less this song is about your anger being a the thing that kills you. When you are angry at someone or something you are so pissed that you don't give a fuck as to what happens, even if you are destroying that relationship or your life. The anger can go both ways, it can be directed at both someone else or yourself. Your anger is the Noose, and in the moment of anger with pride you wear it because you want everyone to know that you are angry; but you don't realize that you are only going to indulge in self destructive behavior in your anger.

Anyone who says that this song, or any song from the St. Anger album is good, clearly knows nothing about what good music, and straight up awesome Metallica, really is, because St. Anger was nothing but a huge let down

the only song i like on St Anger. everything else sounds like a failed attempt at being "hip". the drums drown out all the songs on this album. all you hear is that annoying snare. wtf is up with that? what kind of drums are those?

I think the reason behind the whole album is this: Napster.

Not really what was said before, but it's because the previous music could be downloaded for free.

So Metallica decided that, since their music was being downloaded, they would create such a horrendous album that nobody would want to download, so that people would stop downloading their music.

Thus, their revenge against the guy who created Napster. Good job, Shawn. You ruined it for all of us.

I watched a documentary on the TV and they were talking about Metallica's St. Anger album. The reason for why the production value was so bad was because of Metallica's feued with Napster. They said "If you guys want to download our music that hasn't even been finished [as in produced and polished up] yet, then you can buy it that way too." Metallica canceled all post-production that was too continue although they did do a bit of that process. Thanks to the Napster Bitches, we got a shitty sounding album by one of the most amazing Metal Kings in the world. Just think of how well it would have sounded if the album was never leaked...? Think about that for a while.

This song obviously means (if you pay attention to the lyrics and understand metallica like a real metallica fan does) that this man is madly in anger with the prison system...st. anger is his anger, and he doesnt get respect to let it free. his anger is punished by putting him in jail...and not respected to let his anger be him. and the music video also clearly states the same.

Alot of people hate this song then? I don't. I love it and here is why.
I once was beaten up badly by someone, someone who was my friend at the time, and nothing has happened to him back. One thing I know is that he loves metal music, like myself, though I'm not sure if he loves Metallica or this song.
But anyway, the point is this is a way in my own mind of saying fuck you and I fuckin hate you you fuckin arsehole.
And the lyrics, "I'm really in anger with you", we often hear people say I'm in love with you, but this is just about the opposite feeling, hatred and anger mixed in one.
All in all, this song sounds like it's about letting out your anger on someone or something, no matter who you hurt, after keeping it in for so long.

This song means one thing and one thing only to me... Metaliica cannot be absolved, this is a horrid song and album, what the hell? Ride the Lightning kicked my ass so much, I couldn't sit for weeks, and now this...? Shitallica, you've sunk unbearably low, fuck you.

Has anyone noticed that they say "Fuck it all and fuckin' no regrets" in Damge Inc. too?

And they say "Hit the Lights", which another song completely.
