I agree with kiss45, that this is not typical Cursive. But it's beautiful, I love this song soo much. I don't think I could get tired of it. I don't kno, yeah, it's great.

i don't think there's too much of a typical sound for cursive. their music is just provacitive and angry. this song is great because i thought it was pretty much the transition song from domestica to ugly organ. it has the calm domestica vibe, but the lyrical content of what they were going for with ugly organ.
anyways, great song on a great cd by a great band. end of story.

I think that part of the reason Cursive are so good is that they have NO typical sound. Ugly Organ is pretty damn different to domestica, cello and organ are SOO GOOOD!
The Recluse is the song that made me fall in love with cursive...

This is probably my favorite Cursive song. I love the line "how'd i end up here to begin with?

to all those ugly answers" Because it fits into my personal life. I have a nasty tendency to start things (all-too-often relationships) with people that I know I can't "finish." I also wind up falling in love with lines from songs I can relate to. the ego and stomach analogy is pretty witty, too.

it reminds me of begging to stay the night with your lover because you think it will make things work. even though you cherish these nights, it doesnt matter, cause it will never mean as much to them. you wake up in their bed, remembering the night before, thinking of whats to come, feeling like this is your home.. like it should be. and you know that the second you step foot from that bed everything will be the same again-- with a low self esteem and ugly uncomfortable unanswered questions. even though you know this stupid sh*t is nearly killing you.. you'd do it again in a second.

i dont know about gangsta. i dont think he is relationship with this woman. i think scarlet has it more. this song is about one night stands and the lack of relationship with a woman. he wishes this was home. but its not. its about all the various woman he sleeps with and tthe next morning we always feel dirty and pathetic afterwards.
