it has a decent beat and stuff but i wish they're go easy on the hoarse screaming and metal junk guitar. if you stop listening to any of their songs halfway through, silence hits you like a truck. it's like listening to a plow pulling a car on it's side along.

To me this song is just like most of Linkin Park's other songs. All of there tracks kick a**, don't get me wrong, but they could add some more topics, instead of always always singing about breaking away from someone or living under someones expectations.

True Grungehead. Linkin Park wasn't all that great on the meteora album. They need to come up with some new ideas. I hope they get better cuz they have some good songs

this is the song i can most relate with. its like me always trying to meet my dad's expectanations. I try and try to make him happy, nbut no matter how hard i work, he always wants me to achieve higher and higher...ands it makes me angry, just because i've got some stupid eye problem doesnt mean i can improve everything else all the time!

the video is also perfect for it. being the different one, outcast from the viscious social standings of school because you try to be different, try to fit in and no one will let you in.

This song is my anthem. My dad is a Christian and he is pissed at me because I am a recently converted Pagan (feminine deities make more sense to me somehow). My mom wants me to get straight A's all the time and to "get some new friends". My friends are really good people, even if a bit unstable. It has taken me my entire life to find real friends that stay with me for more than a week and I would not give that up for anything in the world. When my parents aren't home, I turn the volume all the way up and sing along to this song.

This song is my favorite LP song of all time. To me it is about someone (maybe a teenage child) that is told to do this because they should. The parent(s) want their child to grow up to be like them and that is not what the kid wants. The kid tries so hard to do what they want but only ends failing and messing up around them. So the kid gives up and tries to stop doing what they ask of so their parent(s) will stop and think about the pain they have put them through making them be just like them. The reason the parent(s) is doing that because as a kid their parent(s) did the same thing to them so they would grow up to be a go person. Some how I feel like the kid these days. The chorus to me sounded like the kid screaming at their parent(s). They screamed about how they thought it was fun hanging out with them but all the parent(s) have done is change into someone that only wants them to be like them. The way I look at the song is complicating.

This song is excellant, it's one of the first songs I've ever heard from Linkin Park when I first started listening to them. I was introduced to Linkin Park by my boyfriend, who's a big fan of them =]. Anyways, this song is great, because of how I can somewhat relate to it. When I first heard this song, it was at a point in my life when I hadn't 'lived up to the expectations of my parents'. I just felt so pressured to do everything to please them. Grades, attitude, you name it. I just felt so pressured and I just wanted to escape. This song really relates and is the best song to describe what I was going through.

Well Im surprised I neva rel8d dis song2 feelin pressured by parents. I related it2 not bein the perfect girlfriend, and whatever I done bein wrong coz that person was lookin 4 ways 2 end it. But that person was smothering me too and I couldnt figure out why coz they neva really wanted me in d 1st place. And pure exasperration when i cried so much but had2 feel numb coz i was goin2 face him and his bit on the side at work and couldnt let people see me cryin, so i had to feel numb. Then knowin he musta felt like people were disappointed in him -his strict dad. Me knowin he was disappointed in me.

I think this song could be about the hardships of being a teenager in the world today. More specifically about the pressure on teenage girls to have sex. I think this song is about a girl being pressured by her boyfriend to have sex, but she feels she isn't ready yet, and it makes her feel numb.

You definately haven't listened enough. The lyrics might seem the same if you're too ignorant to understand, but they all seem to talk about different things actually, and Numb is my favourite Linkin Park song. Again, I say, please don't waste your time insulting Linkin Park. If you don't like the music, then don't post on these boards.

IMO, since I first heard Numb, I've believed it's about someone trying to live up to their girlfriend's (or anyone else's) expectations, and becomming "numb" because they're just become like the other person, but want to be how they were before (and I'd expect they were happier before, too). I like the part that goes "All I want to do, is be more like me, and be less like you".

however, I can very much agree is't about parents who push their kids to be what they want them to be. Also I think it could be about people trying to be what the media want them to be, but they think they won't be popular unless they live up to the expectations of the media (who I think are all corrupt anyway, if you look at what's been made of kids these days, mainly those who cause trouble and take drugs).

I think Linkin Park are brilliant, and I don't like it when people just come on the boards to post crap about bands just to cause trouble. People like different things, and no band is "good" or "shit". In the end, it's just people's opinions. The only real way to tell how good a band is, is by seeing how much they sell, where they get in the charts, how long they last, etc.

I remember first hearing this song so long ago, time is going so fast! It's crazy! Anyway, this is a great song and it's still one of my favourites.

To me, this song is about being pressured so much by friends, family, teachers, media and everything really.

When i got dumped by the boy i fell in love with this was the only song i could listen to, it made me song because my boyfriend was very demanding! Thanx to linkin park...it helped me throu such a hard time to me! lurv x

The song is talking about how some1 is trying to control the person. The control freak is probably the parents. Hes saying that the same things also probably happened to the parents by their parents. hes probably feeling extremely stressed out by whats happening in his life, like maybe a girlfiend on top of everything.
