This song is so cool, First time I heard it I was in the middle of exams and i was like "...thats how I feel" with people pressurising me to do well, and also in general people having a go at me for whatever I do. I like the line "Every step that I take is another mistake to you, and every second I waste is more than I can take"

The people that dont like this song because they beleive it, 'fucks up' the original version are so short sighted its a wonder how they can see their own genitals. This song should, in no way affect, the original Numb version.
I agree with them, Numb should hav been left alone, but if that is the only reason you dont like this song then i feel sorry u are so short sighted an beleive that the original is fucked.

BTW, music and especially music that have controversial and unusual contexts like this one should only be rated by how much u like the music, NOT by how it was created. Even if a really really hated JZ i wouldnt blow all chances of liking this song because of it.

I agree totally, hybrid theory kicks ass, no question, that albumed is a masterpiece, but Meteora isn't that great, and as for Reanimation and this new crap with that black rappe dude who doesn;t even have a proper name.....well, i'd get my profile deleted if I typed what they are in here....

First of all, i hate linkin park. I plan to make this constructive argument. I remember sitting in the car over the summer and listening to songs like "breaking the habit" and such. No other songs have annoyed the hell out of me as much as linkin park songs. All they do is whine. I tell my emotions to go to hell. THey dwell on stupid subjects abouyt how they had a hard child hood and their lyrics have no depth. You want good music try looking up Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. First of all, those bands have guitarists that actually play guitar and dont spend 4 minutes playing the same stupid riff (breaking the habit). I can right lyrics like linkin park does

If you stand back and look at their music its horrible and its for people that have no concept of good music. Also now linkin park i hate even more cuz they combine rap like lyrics with guitars. I play guitar and i play in a band and we play REAL music with REAL lyrics. Its an insult when somebody picks up a guitar and starts whining in a stacato tone. You can say that i have no life for dissing people that like linkin park but im trying to help you people. DO yourselves a favor AND LISTEN TO SOME REAL MUSIC

Look caffeinerock, linkin park might not be your particular favorite style, but you have to get through you head that you are obviously not the type of person who likes whiny music. The thing is, lots of people do. I personally dislike linkin park, and really dilike people who call them metal, but there's no persuading someone that the music they like sucks. Lot's of people don't have the common sense not to broadcast their feelings and think someone will care. But, people with specific musical taste like you just have to ignore bands that you don't agree with. But screaming on a forum that they suck is just immature, I know, I've done it before. But looking back on those old posts, I realize how unfounded some of my arguments were and how needlesly pissed off I was about nothing. Just keep in mind that your tastes are probably not the majority's tastes, and there's no changing that.

This song is sooooooooo COOL. Linkinpark is the best band ever and Cool! The heavy metal beat and the rapper make this song the best. Breaking the habit is also cool. Anyone who says something rude about this band is out of their fucking mind!

This song reminds me of my mom. She is always trying to get me to be someone i'm not. But when i do the things she wants me to, she just makes up another excuse for me to do better. "And i know i may end up failing too" That really explains what i want to say to my mom. Everytime we have a fight, i play this song. IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!

I am a HUGE fran of linkin park, a lot of there songs really speak to me, like this one, it is about a person being forced to live up to expectations they cannot meet, and having it reach a point where they are alienated by the peer's and they no longer care, they have had all feeling beaten out of them.

I will always like Linkin Park, not because of the "quality" of their music but because of the sentimental value it holds with me. I discovered their music at a time when I was going through that "teen angst" phase, and they really helped me through some tough stages in my life. I might not like them as much now, but the memories I have from their songs will always stay with me.

...And that's my long-winded way of saying I don't really like them that much any more, but I'll always go back and listen to them for the memories.

I think this song means that a person who tryies to make friends but cant because everyone shuts him or her out, i was shut out no one liked my when i was in elementary and middle school i had literally no friends. And i think that this person hoo had no friends just became "numb". This person just stoped trying to becme kool or noticed or trying to get friends. This person just stopped. And i just stopped at one point untill high school this one chick she's really hot, and now we're together, anyways that is when i got my first friend in life.

wow...at first i thought all linkin park fans are a bunch of poseurs, a few hours ago, i was singing karaoke with a bunch of friends and saw this song, and was like, wow, eaningful lyrics, nice MTV, that girl in the MTV sure is troubled though, seems like everyone is pushing her arnd, i finally realised chester can shout and sing at the same time, which is remarkable, best of all the lyrics are meaningful, reminded me of myself last time, so much pressure on me to do well in studies, to be in the 'in' crowd, to be in the system, whatever, wasted my whole damn youth pursuing useless things, looking down on those out of the system, while actually, inside, i'm falling apart, now i realise that grades, or being in doesn't really matter, sacrificed many potential relationships and friends just trying to be with the system, sank into depression, didn't know why, people keep expecting me to perform, to be 'in', and not like those outcast 'losers', its like, everyone expects me to get As for every test, everyone expects me to scorn the losers, etc. its like a vicious cycle, the more you perform up to their expectations, the more the system asks from you, and before, you know it, you're working 14 hour days and escape in the night to club, like all the 'sucessful' people do, in the end, you end up with nothing, too much money, too little relationships, you got a billion and a half associates, but in the end, they're as plastic as me...trying hard to revive old friends and relationships again, they seem so much more real, they accept me for who i am, not because i am in the system, in the end, you leave with nothing other than your personality, its the most important thing in the end, don't let the system pressure you to conforming...

as for linkin park's skills, i think its ok, average, its the way that its being marketed that makes them poseurish, same goes for blink 192 and limp bizkit(turned bad after chocolate starfish, significant other rocks!), some bands get arrogant and start dishing out lame songs, i don't think linkin park's one of them, they've changed no doubt, but not as bad though, at least they sound acceptable and sing decent songs...
