Well this song mean to me that the person has become numb that they dont want to live up to what the other person wants them to be.its a bit like me my mums wants me to be like her she puts so much pressure on me to be somthing that i dont want to be..i became "numb" i didnt know what was really me and what wasnt..i shut out the whole world until i finnaly understood that my mum was puttin so much pressure on me..now i finnaly know who i really am and im nothing like her..im my own person.numb is such amazing song,it was one of the songs that helped me realise who i really was.

I have mixed feelings about Linkin Park. I love some of their songs but hate others. This is one of the songs I love. I can relate to it because being a christian there are some things theat my mates do that go against all my morals like drinking, drugs, sex before marriage etc. but they still expect me to do it. After awhile I realised that they're just pushing me because they feel wrong about what they're doing and so have to justify it by getting me involved. In the end I just went 'numb' and totally ignore them when they push me. I love the line "I don't know what you're expecting of me." It's so true. People just put pressure on but you don't know what you're supposed to do or why you're supposed to do it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say I also love "feeling so faithless" because sometimes I got tempted to fall into conformity and it really caused issues with my faith.

Linkin Park is a wonderful band. They pushed something new and stuck to it, unlike most bands that start sounding like someone, and went on to sound like someone else. It's true that their music is lyrically straightforward, and dosen't leave much room for interpretation (CoF-Nympetamine Fix), but I think that's a good thing.

anyways... I don't think this song was made so much for a child-parent relationship. I know that the greater part of LP's fanbase are very young (13-17) kids/adults, and thus most of the comments will be parent-child, but I think it's something a little more. I have to disagree with numb referring to being numb to the people pushing them around, as much as being numb to themself. On a personal lever, I think it's alot like the way that I've been told what to be for many many years. Even from childhood, and through my teen years, and now through my adult days, people always want me to be something I either can't be, don't want to be, or don't know how to be. Even now, my fiancee wants me to be this perfect boyfriend and husband, but I haven't been with many women, so I can't say I'm really sure how. All my life I've been pressured to be things I can't be, like a professional businessman type so I can get a good job, or a tamed down quiet boy because people can't handle people as upbeat as me... And that puts alot of pressure on me. So much pressure that I find myself more and more "numb" to myself, my own feelings, because I've been forced for so long to not care about what I think, only what everyone around me thinks. I think that's pretty much what the full song is all about.

I think most people have got this song pretty well because yeah they aren't the most challenging lyrics to read into but what about "Help!" or "Eleanor Rigby" 2 of the Beatles best songs and you can get the gist fairly easily. I think it is pathetic that people come on her just to deliberately diss the song, how pathetic can you get. If you have nothing better to do with your time them I think you need to go out more!

I'm probably the eldest person commenting on this song, being 48 years old. I think Linkin Park is a great band. This song Numb makes me want to be more careful in how I raise my son. He is only 5 years old, and I want to always treat him in a way that validates his self worth and give him the freedom to seek his own path in life. Numb brings this out beautifully!

i don't really like LP but i do like this song. it applies to the relationship that i have with my mom. so much so it's kinda scary. i guess that just means that a lot of people go through some of the stuff I'm going through.

This is an amazing song. I think it's a bout the relationship between a kid and their parent. Just about how they are being molded into someone they don't wanna be. This is a very nice song. :D:D

I think its about someone that has made a lot of mistakes in the past, and they want to keep you from making the same mistakes they made. So they put all this pressure on you, and they do not allow you to be yourself. Then when start breaking away and not caring...they are dissapointed in you.

chipmunk777, i kinda relate to some of the lyrics myself over the past few weeks when things havent been to good with my girlfriend.. along with pushing me away.. I love linkin park, because the songs have so much meaning, and they are all completely clean which is a very good talent to have.. and chesters voice.. wow..
