Lyrics for Ball and Biscuit as interpreted by ruben

Ball and Biscuit Lyrics
It's quite possible that I'm your third man girl
But it's a fact that I'm the seventh son
It's quite possible that I'm your third man girl
But it's a fact that I'm the seventh son
And right now you could care less about me
But soon enough you will care, by the time I'm done
Let's have a ball and a biscuit sugar
And take our sweet little time about it
Let's have a ball girl
And take our sweet little time about it
Tell everybody in the place to just get out
And we'll get clean together
And I'll find me soapbox where I can shout it
Yeah
Read it in the newspaper
Ask your girlfriends and see if they know
Read it in the newspaper
Ask your girlfriends see if they know
That my strength is ten fold girl
I'll let you see if you want to before you go
Let's have a ball and a biscuit sugar
And take our sweet little time about it
Let's have a ball
And take our sweet little time about it
Tell everybody in the place to just get out
We'll get clean together
And I'll find me soapbox where I can shout it
Yeah I can think of one or two things to say about it
Ah listen
Yeah it's quite possible that I'm your third man
But it's a fact that I'm the seventh son
It was the other two which made me your third
But it was my mother who made me the seventh son
Right now you could care less about me
But soon enough you will care by the time I'm done
Just wait
Stick around
You'll figure it out

Jack says the ball & biscuit reference is to a recording microphone, though as its phrased in the song, it can't be anything more than a novel reference to sex.
The "seventh son" is a reference to the fact that Jack is indeed, the seventh son.
The second verse, the "read it in the newspapers" bit seems to confront Jack's sudden fame, and how he is well known.

I'm loving this song, especially the bluesy Led Zeppelin feel.

This is a blues jam.. Jack shows his unique prowess on the guitar. I guess i'll have to look int othe lyrics again. I have always been more about music than lyrics.

I have no idea what the meaning of this song is, but it is kickass. Jack does great things with that guitar.

The soloing in this song can only be described as "shit-hot."

a little dylan tribute maybe???

The fifth daughter on the twelfth night
Told the first father that things weren't right:
"My complexion," she said, "is much too white!"
He said, "Come here and step into the light;"
He says, "hmm you're right,
Let me tell the second mother this has been done."
But the second mother was with the SEVENTH SON,
And they were both out on Highway 61!

jack said he wrote the lyrics to the song right before he went into the studio to record. it's just words that sound good together, with some random facts(jack is the 7th son) and word fills to go along with the song

The song shows a cockier side of Jack, but its freakin brilliant, esp the guitar solo. And yes, it's definitely referring to sex

Whether it's just words that sound good thrown together or something with a different meaning, it's still one of the best sex songs out there IMO.

No disrespect to Jack White, but it's his rip of Willie Dixon's "The Seventh Son". If it sounds just like Zepplin it's because Jimmy Page's biggest influences is Willie Dixon, and he recorded two Willie D songs on Zepplin I.

Just to set some stuff straight: Jack is NOT the seventh son, that part is a reference (I can't remember the artist but the person who said Dylan is probably right).

will someone please tell me how/why this is a sex song...maybe i am a complete fool, but i can't see it. but i really don't see a meaning in it at all. A beginner to the white stripes, therefore i do not know there lyrical style.

I would appreciate an explanation.

"Read it in the newspaper
Ask your girlfriends see if they know
That my strength is ten fold girl"
- About his sexual prowess.
Especially the "Ask your girlfriends...".

My interpretation of:
"It's quite possible that I'm your third man girl
But it's a fact that I'm the seventh son..."
is that the narrator may seem at first to just be one of the men the girl has had, but he'll show that he is special (maybe through his sexual performance?).

Seventh Sons have various different special characteristics in different mythologies. Often they have supernatural powers, or are seen as "chosen ones". I have also seen that 7th son of a 7th son will be a werewolf or a vampire. In Irish lore the 7th son of a 7th son has curative powers.

This also goes along with the line
"Right now you could care less about me
But soon enough you will care by the time I'm done."

AnotherLonelyDay - do you see how these are all innuendos?

Its could be as one said that its just a song put together rather fast and doesnt mean anything.

but that doesnt mean that just like all songs you cant get your own meaning.

mine is:
this girl isnt into him that much and hes saying just wait till Im famous and rollin in $$ youll be all over me so if you want I can show you what Im about before I go that why you know what your missing,
hes telling every body Im "hella wet" <- my own new saying. anyway also very sexual.

ZinBobDan: I didn't get your little verse, but just wanted to say that I'm a fifth daughter... :P

This song rocks...very sexual, to me. I agree with LittleUrantiaGirl... ;)
