He is restless. Everyone knows the pain when your brain just won't stop, you can't sleep and you only wish you could switch off your mind. In the third verse he drains himself with hard physical work and finally manages to stop thinking about the shit that's bothering him. Many people have the same feeling after a long run or a hard day of physical working, you're tired, but they only thing you feel is your drained body and for me that's total bliss. It also allows you to see things clearer afterwards and to focus.
At the end of the last verse, he considers going back home. This could mean that he wants to go back to a more simple life and quit. (If it's personal song it might mean quitting showbusiness, for a more general representation it could mean quitting your shitty (but highly paid) job, relationship, ...)
God is re-gathering the nation of Israel, and no nation will stand against them (althought they will try). Many of you are decendents of Ephriam (One of your great great etc. grandfathers), and no army will be able to stand against you....
The guy that wrote this song, didn't really know what it means, and maybe you don't really understand why you like it (a lot of the work of the Lord is taking place in your dreams). Peace....
