We saw the western coast.
I saw the hospital.
Nurse the shoreline like a wound.
Reports of lover's tryst.
Were neither clear nor descript.
We kept it safe and slow.
The quiet things that no one ever knows.
Keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground.
Today's the day it gets tired.
Then today's the day we drop down.
Give up my body in bed.
All for an empty hotel.
Wasting words on lowercases and capitals.
I contemplate the day we wed.
Your friends are boring me to death.
Your veil is ruined in the rain.
By then you like to do without.
There's nothing new to talk about.
And though our kids are blessed,
the parents let them shoulder all the blame.
Keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground.
Today's the day it gets tired.
Today's the day we drop down.
Give up my body in bed.
All for an empty hotel.
Wasting words on lowercases and capitals.
I lie for only you.
And I lie well.
Halleluh.
Keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground.
Today's the day it gets tired.
Today's the day we drop down.
Give up my body in bed.
All for an empty hotel.
Wasting words on lowercases and capitals

If you see the musicvideo, you see this couple traveling by car "We saw the western coast." They were probably at some vacation. "I saw the hospital." They are in a car accident. In the musicvideo you see that he dies, but she's alive, but barely. And it's like he just want her to survive.
With lines like "Your friends are boring me to death. Your veil is ruined in the rain." I think it's memories. He remember all those bad things. "I lie for only you. And I lie well." He regret those things he said and even though things wasn't good always, he loved her.
Anyway I love this song! This is like a song I want to be performed at my funeral. Imagine this song in a church... *.*
The song continues to point out things that they didn't notice before. The rain on their wedding day for instance. They didn't think of it at the time but maybe now it was symbolic. A negative symbol.
They talk about kids shouldering the blame. I think this is just the family being more of a house than a home as a result of the parents lying to themselves about their relationship. Hence the line "I lie for only you. And I lie well." Basically saying, both parents lie to themselves as to how bad things have gotten.
regrading the song, i think it's definitely about relationships but specifically relationships of married couples and its effects to their children or the youth.
i'm not saying someone can't
i am simply trying to figure out why it makes me cry so much...
i just can't figure it out
EVERYtime, it never fails
the part of the chorus that goes 'give up my body in bed all for an empty hotel wasting words on lowercases and capitals' means that they lost their virginity to eachother in a hotel room and theyre not married to eachother.
the part that goes 'i contemplate the day we wed, your friends are boring me to death, your veil is ruined in the rain, by then you like to do without, there's nothing new to talk about, and though our kids are blessed the parents let them shoulder all the blame' means that hes picturing their life if they get married and hes regreting what hasnt even happened yet. theyre going their sepertate paths in the marriage and the kids feel they are to blame.
