  General Comment:Such a good band. Many of the band's tracks have such relevant (and emotional) lyrics. This is a song about a fe/male who does not like who s/he is (or who he sees himself as being) and constantly recreates himself in hopes of pleasing another. With all the masks he wears, he has said things he doesn't mean and it has pushed him/her away. That was not his intent, but with all the game-playing it occurred. ("I never thought that what I said would have you running from me.) He feels he needs to, but can't, keep up all the false identities he's created (probably to please him/her and others), so when a situation gets hot (ie. his latest lie has been discovered and s/he's run from him), he says he wants out. It is easier to run than to stay and correct a bad situation. And it's easier (emotionally on him/her) to say he's the one leaving rather than face the truth that what he did/said is why s/he walked away from him. Many of the lyrics belonging to Linkin Park are so impressive...not just fluff that creates a hyper or fuzzy feeling before fleeting the moment the song ends. This track sticks with the listener and makes him/her re-evaluate him/herself. THAT'S what truly good music does...

    Ya think she may have pulled those masks off long ago (or at least seen under them) and STILL liked what she saw. Ya think people can give others enough credit for who they choose to accept in their lives. Ya think that maybe he has a warped view of himself and creates excuses to move forward with people (and in his life) for fear of failure or future loss. Yeah. I think so. But you are correct; the song is wonderful. The band has many songs with impressive, pertinent lyrics.

  General Comment:This song is not about love or anything, It's basically Linkin Park telling you about the industry, fans that hold on too tightly and telling them about what the band should sound like , also the producers Label Etc.
  So basically from "When I pretend" to "The very worst part of you is me" the band is pissing you off really, then Mike Shinoda hits back with " This isn't what I wanted to be,I never thought that what I said,Would have you running from me,LIKE THIS!" It explains mainstream music where labels hold artist into a mold, forcing them into making money rather than the quality of the music.

  General Comment:This is the best LP has ever done! I think it's about a guy who's constantly trying to please a girl he loves, or thinks he loves, so he keeps changing who he *really* is so she'll love him back. Then, he finally realizes what's happening: that he's not himself anymore, that he's become someone he doesn't really want to be, that he's become that person because that's what she wants him to be. He realizes that that's not who he wants to be, and if that's what she wants from him, then he doesn't want to be with her anymore.

  General Comment:This song to me is about a relationship where the boy/girl man/woman come from different social standings. They fall in love and the boy feels like he has to change himself to fit in with her family/friends life, He puts up a facade to make people think he fits in, but he is dying just to be himself. He feels as though he is dragging her down, and she is perfect to him, so to make her life 'perfect' in his eyes he pushes her away so they break up. It might not be what he wants, but he feels as though it would be best for her life, and for him to be who he really is, and that is someone who doesn't mix with her life, although he probably mixes with her...
  
  Its a sad story.

  General Comment:this is such a great song...right now, with the current situation i am in with a friend, this part of the song "I wanna be pushed aside, so let me go!(No, no turning back now) Let me take back my life, I’d rather be, all alone!" really gets to me....i love linkin park's music, especially their older stuff.
