I think the song is about the people in this world, especially here in the U.S. People here don't give a damn about anyone else, its all about self interest and its all greed. Anyway, I don't like this song much, if at all.

I think this song might be a 'countinuation' of Porch. It seems to me they're about the same things (if you don't interpret Porch as a 'Lost love'-song). Note also the reference to Porch: "there ain't gonna be
no middle anymore, it's been said before"

I think this song might be the continuation of Porch (if you interpret Porch as not a "lost love"-song). To me they're about the same things; self-interest and how the power-people (politicians etc.) have the wrong perspective on things. Notice also the reference to Porch: "there ain't gonna be no middle anymore, it's been said before".....

This just in--Smokey31 is a complete fool. American taxpayers money feeds the world you jerk. Anytime--EVERY time there is a disaster ANYWHERE in the world, America is the first to help with money, supplies, and technological expertise. You need to stop believing everything you see and hear on CNN. Vedder's politics are ridiculous but he is a great songwriter. Your musical taste must be almost as bad as your pathetically misinformed political opinion.

NAH, ARNOLD SWARTZANEGGAR 2008! Just kidding. I don't know, I hope Guliani runs. Also, I do not think I spelled the Terminator's name right. That name is very hard to spell.

Unfortunately, this is one of the weaker tracks on Riot Act, but good album nonetheless.

I dig this song.
General statement about money, society and the planet. Greed is stealing and destroying everything good about the earth. The rich keep getting richer....there won't be any middle class anymore. Just us slaves and the 5% nation. I never thought about the connection to porch, very interesting.

I agree with 'thebrain' and 'jaco'. This is a great song about the few selfish people/companies that are effectively destroying the world. It's a call to action for those who care about the future.

Is it up to us as individuals to save the world?

The song is actually about Creed, the band. In concerts to support the album 'Riot Act', Eddie Vedder would spell out the word C.r.e.e.d. instead of greed when singing the song.

I think that this song is about the inability of the today people to LOVE themselves each other, everyday. It's easy to help the unlucky people donating money when a tragedy happens.
