we drove these streets heads to shoulders
existing to tell the tales of letting go
and now we're strangled to tears on the fallback farewell
its all in our heads
the faint whispers
i tried to tell myself when its already over
that the reasons found decoys
and this is holding me back
as if to say what you thought you heard
i wish i did
i don't want to feel this pull as this city becomes home without you

General Comment:this is my favorite song of all time. no other song has captured having to seperate from someone so closely. where you have to drive around in the same town you fell in love with them in without them and remember that they're not with you, and how you can't exist in the same place without them.

General Comment:"We drove these streets head to shoulders." It's when you look around and see that these are the places that you have driven through so many times, that these roads are home.
And you exist to tell yourself again and again the tales of having to let go of someone that these roads remind you of, how it brought you tears to say goodbye. But you had to say goodbye; it was the fallback, the plan that you execute when all other plans fail.
It's all in your head, the faint whispers that you hear in the back of your mind convincing you that s/he can still be yours. But the reasons you would use in trying to get him/her back found decoys. You know the reasons are there, but these decoys are holding you back from being able to see those reasons.
As if to say, what you thought you heard, and you wish you had said it. It could be, "I love you." The healing words; because you thought you heard it when you were with him/her. In fact, you're probably sure of it.
But either way, you don't want to feel like this place is your home unless you're with him/her, because you are so in love with this person, that if this place manages to become home for you without him/her, you'll feel it wasn't love for real. And I suppose that's something to be afraid of.

I don't know. That took awhile, but I love this song, and I love the mood it has given me these past few years.

General Comment:i think it has something to do with touring and how their loved ones cannot be with them on tour.
"we drove these streets heads to shoulders
existing to tell the tales of letting go"
they drive from place to place and almost all of their song are about "letting go" and broken hearts and stuff.

i dunno. thats what i think.

oh, this is a great song. new album just sucks.

General Comment:I think that the song is indeed about the loss of someone and trying to let go of the past "existing to tell the tales of letting go"... I don't have too much to say about the meaning...I just felt that I had to announce my love for the song and the band because there aren't many posts on here and there damn well should be! Hopesfall is an amazing band...flawless. I saw their show when they ame to Toronto in March and it was absolutely perfect.

General Comment:yes I agree with Zenj. And I think that 'decoys' are people that you go with to try to forget about that person that you left behind.

The end of this song is so great, I need to rebuy this cd though, iy got mass scrachted up.

General Comment:Personally I think this song is the best on 'The Satellite Years'. Great lyrics and great music. The only problem with hopesfall is that they repeat too much... Now im just waiting for my lyrics to be posted..
