Breaking Benjamin – Next To Nothing

  My Interpretation:Ben met a girl (lets call her Kari) and they thought everything was great. It was and probably always would have been; a veritable fairy-tale. Something happened; Ben cheated. Beneath that wave, now Kari just cuts him down all the time and makes him feel like sh!t, literally with every sentence she speaks, but she thinks its acceptable because they are otherwise so perfect together...he's "always" gonna be there so why shouldn't she punish him for what he did?
  After a few years, she is dead as he knows her. But he knows she'll live another day. (after they separate?) He's begging her...."come and take my breath away (you might as well f#ck!ng kill me), look me straight in the face (and just end it....he cant do it... he loves her, but he cant go on living like this either.) cause you know its over, growing colder, i NEED something (that kind of love again) LEAVE ME next to nothing."
  For the deniers.
  HOPEFUL ALTERNATIVE= " come and take my breath away (lets f#ck!ng get it together) ..........cause u know its over (otherwise).........i need something (someone) that leaves me next to nothing (because you are everything) All we ever wanted" (is right here) but its now or never. I need change.
  Then it becomes circular.....her poor treatment of him because of the infidelity causes him to "cut her down"....He thinks it's acceptable because they are so perfect for each other, Kari will always be there......its ok to punish her for her behavior.....Kari gets butthurt .....cuts him down more and more......him to her more and more and so on.
  So now they wait......... SO HERE IS THE QUESTION?????
  Ben has hung in there. Kari has hung in there. Will they move on? Will they just continue to "hang in there?" Doesn't the phrase "hang in there just sound almost like torture?" Or, will there be a profound mutual understanding that will allow Ben and Carrie to reach their potential?

  General Comment:"i need something, leave me next to nothing" i never got this fully, until last night. He lost her and he wants her... any bit of her he can get of her is enough he just has to have something.

  and i almost died.
  it was my best friends first concert and she's like in love with chad szeliga and i had to bring her.
  lol.
  but yeah they didnt play this song.
  it kinda dissapointed me.
  but they still kicked some major fucking ass dude.

  General Comment:Or maybe it could be about a relationship of convenience. Meaning he settled for a girl cause he thought that was as good as he could get, but he still gives his all and now after time has passed she's actually taking him for granted. She never gives him anything out of the relationship but criticism. He thinks well this is as good as it gets no matter if she cuts me down she needs me since I give so much to the relationship she'll always be around. And the same can be said vice versa he's settled so she knows he'll always be around. In the end she leaves him and he starts to realize that everytime he's needed her to be there she's left him with next to nothing. Now she's gone and she's taken everything with her including his pride. I hope that makes sense, it did in my head.

  General Comment:im not sure but i think its about how this guy is in love with a girl but doesnt want to think that his love for her exists
  hes saying he'll always be around and waiting because hes thinking at some point she will come around and give him a try so he waits around
  he eventually gets tired of tryin to make this girl love him and starts to lose interest
  once he loses interest she comes around and wants him but he's gone for good because he couldnt wait forever for her to realize it

  General Comment:I agree with painfullulaby here as well. It's about a guy thats like show some affection or a little intrest in me, it kind of sound like he might have a nervous breakdown, from heartache, in any case this song is awsome and i love it
