(spoken)
A beautiful girl can make you dizzy, like you've been drinking Jack and Coke all morning. She can make you feel high; full of the single greatest commodity known to man: promise. Promise of a better day. Promise of a greater hope. Promise of a new tomorrow. This particular aura can be found in the gait of a beautiful girl. In her smile and in her soul.. and the way she makes every rotten little thing about life seem like it's going to be okay.

September never stays this cold
where I come from, and you know
Im not one(I'm not one)
for complainin'(for complainin')
But I'd love the way you'd roll
excuses off the tip of your tongue
as I'd slowly fall apart
(slowly, quietly, slowly fall apart)

It's fallin apart(4x)

I said...
This wont mean a thing come tomorrow
and thats exactly how Ill make it seem
Cause I'm still not sleeping
thinking Ive crawled home from worse than this

So please, please(please)
Im running out of sympathy(I'm running out of sympathy)
and I never said Id take this
I never said I'd take this lying down

She says
"come on, come on, lets just get this over with
She says
"come on, come on, lets just get this over with
(I never said Id take this lying down, I've crawled home from worse than this, worse than this)
She says
"come on, come on, lets just get this over with
She says
"come on, come on..."
come on, come on, come on

You always come close but this never comes easy,
I still know everything
You always come close but you never come easy,
I still know everything
This always comes close but you never come easy,
I still know everything
And you always come so close...so
I still know everything, I still know everything, I still know...

You always come close but this never comes easy
You always come close but you never come easy
You come in... you come in close

I never said I'd take this lying down
I never said I'd take this lying down
but I've crawled home from worse than this

If it's not keeping you up nights
then whats the point
then whats the point
then whats the point
then whats the point

I'm in your room
is this turning you on,
am I turning you on?

I'm in your room
are you turned on?

I'm on the corner of your bed,
I'm thinkin maybe,
are you turned on,
are you turned on?

My Interpretation:" This won't mean a thing come tomorrow " is really endemic of adolescent relationships. The idea that somehow these two people who were so intimate will just get over it and being troubled by the realization that " No. It's not that easy to get over something like this ". At least for one half. This song is half-indictment, half-plea.

" Please, let this be bothering you as much as it's bothering me."
" Please be struggling to get over this. "
" Please think about me as much as I think about you. "

It's very pointedly a song for young people.

General Comment:isn't the ex girlfriend adam writes this about john nolan's sister? i know he had a relationship with her and that was part of the reason john and adam fought all the time and also part of the reason why john left the band

General Comment:This song is laced so fully with sexual innuendos, I love it.

"I never said I'd take this lying down."
"You always come close but this never comes easy"
and of course the "Is this turning you on? (I'm in your room)" part.

    It's dirty.

Even the "I still know everything" is about knowing the girl.. erm.. intimiately. Double entendres rule.

General Comment:This is about one of Adam's ex girlfriends. The intro is from her favourite movie and he used to say it to her, telling her that she was the girl. After their break up, he wrote the song and added that as a reference so she knew it was about her. One of their best songs - my fav line... You always come close but you never come easy.

General Comment:i'm pretty sure it's "this particular aura can be found in the gait of a beautiful girl."

gait: A particular way or manner of moving on foot.

well.. her smile and her soul.. i guess they just used it for all her mannerisms.
