Whoah, the girl I love, she got long black wavy hair
I do declare!
The girl I love, yeah, she got long black wavy hair,
Ah yeah,
Her mother and her father, lordy,
They sure don't, sure don't allow me there.

Well i, I'm goin? back to my baby, lord i,
I swear I wouldn't lie, yeah
I never saw that sweet woman yeah in-a
A-five long years gone by, yeah.
Well I'm goin? ho__me, I'm goin? home
?cause she's a sweet little darlin?, ah
I said I been away, ahh-far too long,
I been away too long.

Take it jimmy!
Well, my baby when...
She shakes just like a willow tree,
Yes she does.
My baby, when she walks, ya know
She shakes like a willow tree, yeah.
Ah-that mean, mistreatin? baby she know she
Hop, hops all over me.
Oooh.

Yeah!
Alright!
Hops over me...

General Comment:The girl I love has long black hair under her armpits and she is in these ads here on Song Meanings. She has, what appears to be, POPCORN, attached to her glossy black locks. I am about to THROW UP. Old Spice. All over.

And I just ate popcorn. Damn.

General Comment:rock n roll 533 yes it is based on an old blues song by estes.. but hiswas called "the girl i love, She Got Long Curly Hair" and the credits list the writers of the song are zeppelin and estes so it wasnt a complete cover but definately got the idea from that.. pretty amusing when u think about it the title by estes

General Comment:Also, very possiobly Robert Plant's greatest vocal performance ever. The only performance that even comes close is Dazed and Confused from Song Remains the Same

General Comment:Hands down Zeppelin's greatest heavy song. And yes, it's about Maureen I believe. The song is worth picking up BBC Sessions, the rest of the songs were just bonuses for me. This and the Rain Song still remain in my heart as Zep's two greatest songs

General Comment:theres is no way it is about plant or bonhams wife, there is a song with the exact same title (its a way old blues song) by sleepy john Estes, with the exact same lyrics. and since zep modified a lot of old blues tunes, there is no doubt at all that this is another blues cover.

General Comment:I heard, from a guitarist friend of mine (and suspected a bit myself) that this song was the song that sparked Moby Dick?? My friend told me that the guitar is in the same scale or something to that effect, and I remember reading about a song that was a less evolved form of Moby Dick, that wasn't a drum solo, but was written by Bohnam about the woman in his life at the time, some of the lyrics in this song could work for that effect.
