B-B-bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi

Liberate your mind
You motherfucker, you're so narrow-minded,
So narrow-minded
So liberate your mind,
Motherfucker, will you liberate your mind
Huh, huh
Liberate your mind
You motherfucker, you're so narrow-minded,
So narrow-minded
So liberate your mind,
Now motherfucker will you liberate your mind,
This time

Bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mind
Can't you see that the pace
Has just fallen behind
All the hate in your heart
Will be leaving you blind
So bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mind
Now bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mind
Can't you see that the pace
Has just fallen behind
All the hate in your heart
Will be leaving you blind
So bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mind
This time

Waiting, for your modern messiah
To take away all the hatred
That darkens the light in your eye
Still awaiting, I

Liberate your mind
You motherfucker, you're so narrow-minded,
So narrow-minded
So liberate your mind,
Motherfucker, will you liberate your mind?
Huh, huh
Liberate your mind
You motherfucker, you're so narrow-minded,
So narrow-minded
So liberate your mind,
Now motherfucker will you liberate your mind,
This time?

Bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mind
Can't you see that the pace
Has just fallen behind?
All the hate in your heart
Will be leaving you blind
So bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mind
Now bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mind
Can't you see that the pace
Has just fallen behind?
All the hate in your heart
Will be leaving you blind
So bold motherfucker
Don't you limit your mind
This time

Waiting, for your modern messiah
To take away all the hatred
That darkens the light in your eye
Still awaiting, I

"Out of Zion shall come forth a law
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem
Nation shall not raise sword against nation
And they shall not learn war anymore
For the mouth of the Lord hath spoken"

Waiting, for your modern messiah
To take away all the hatred
That darkens the light in your eye
How long will we be waiting,
For your modern messiah
To take away all the hatred
That darkens the light in your eye?

Still awaiting, I

Still awaiting, I

General Comment:Sometimes I think the verses are directed towards republicans and how narrow-minded they are. It would make sense because they are all democrats but I'm pretty sure this song is more religious than political.

General Comment:To reiterate: It is not a Jesus song or an anti-religious song. It is an anti-people who look into the future for redemption song. Don't be clouded by your own misconceptions of the world, or seeing darkness in a normal blue sky. Everything's AOK now. Instead of hoping for things to get better, lets just do it!

And not everyone hates us! And for those that do: Fvuck you! (this whole belief in redemption is due to all the persecutions we've gone through.) Just don't live your life in fear. (as a wise green man once said, fear leads to anger and hatred...)

General Comment:Oh u guys are so narrowminded.

I'm considering a few things when making my assumption:

    1) The lead singer is Jewish and raised religious (as was I)
    2) He went to Yeshivas (Jewish day schools) for most of his childhood and was taught the same spiel that I was
    3) He couldn't see his grandfather because he decided to become non-religious (ie: being on the interwebs on Shavuot which is today)

In school, we were taught that eventually a messiah will eventually rise up and free us from persecution and hatred. Timelines vary, but it usually coincides with the year 6000 (kinda like the Mayan calendar, but we've been updating this list. I think it was supposed to of happened over a hundred years ago). This will all be done by god and whatnot. But this thinking leads to many religious jews to being closed-minded and resenting towards others that do not believe in their dogmas. In their eyes, society is 'darkened' (hence the lyric) by all the 'perverse' that exists (don't even ask me what this means, as this seems to vary). This even translates into politics by some uber religious sects that protest Israel because it wasn't created by that phantom messiah (Contrary to popular belief, Israel is a very non-religious country)

So the song is really simple: Abandon the idea of a messiah to rescue us..."How long have we been waiting?"

This really applies to all religions. Its just easier to understand when you got his perspective.

    Cheerio!

My Interpretation:I don't get how anyone could think that this song is in any way positive towards god. I agree with KoRn to a point... to me this song is saying think for yourself.
    "Liberate your mind
    You motherfucker you're so narrow-minded
    So narrow-minded
    So liberate your mind"

And that bottling hate inside (because of christian morals)
"all this hate in your heart
    will be leaving you blind"
will cause it to burst out at once and leave you blinded by it.

    "Waiting, for your modern messiah,
To take away all the hatred
That darkens the light in your eye.
    Still are waiting, I"
Means christians keep waiting for their "modern messiah" (jesus coming back) "To take away all the hatred, That darkens the light in your eye" is useless. He's not coming, we should take care of our own problems. It's not saying just take care of yourself, help others when you can but don't rely on a god who does nothing.

"Out of Zion shall come forth a law
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem
Nation shall not raise sword against nation
And they shall not learn war anymore
For the mouth of the Lord hath spoken"
Is god saying there will be no more war (but what da'ya know there still is war).

To me this song says think for yourself, don't mindlessly follow a god who does nothing or has no power or simply doesn't care.(By the way I'm atheist but I still agree whith this song).

General Comment:First of all, some of the Christians on this board need to realize that the singer is Jewish so all of you who said this song is in some way about Jesus are completely wrong.

My guess is that this is an anti-war song, and the narrow-minded people mentioned in the song are the ones who use religion to justify violence, whether it's a Muslim terrorist or a Christian who says "God is on our side" during war. I think he's saying they are all wrong - that war in wrong. I think the last verse is the main message of the song and that most people are missing it.

Song Meaning:A lot of people commenting say that this song is either anti-religious, or that it's about how people SHOULD open their mind to religion.

Personally, I think the song has very little to do with religion, and a lot to do with man's greatest sin; narrow-mindedness.

A lot of conflicts in the world today - whether they're as small as a fight on the playground at an elementary school, or as big as war - stem from one reason; narrow-mindedness. Because people refuse to open their minds to new ideas or ways of thinking, they believe that people who are different must be wrong, and so they make fun of or hurt them. And in the song, David is basically telling people to "Liberate their minds", and refers to those closed-minded people as "motherfuckers".

As for the whole "modern Messiah" part... Well, I think that's saying that people are waiting for Jesus to come and "take away all the hatred". But we don't KNOW when Jesus will rise again, so we need to change our way of thinking NOW, and not wait for him to do it for us. Jesus helps those that help themselves, after all.

General Comment:Wow some people are just clueless.

    A: Song is clearly anti-religious

Having been a former christian I find this song very uplifting because I "Liberated" my mind from the hatred that most religion brings. Hatred of other religion, hatred of those who the bible dictates as "sinners" such as homosexuals and other such hatred. It is saying that if we as humanity get rid of religious oppression and stop waiting for some "messiah" to fix all our problems, we will then have peace and no more hatred.

    "Waiting for your modern messiah
To take away all the hatred
That darkens the light in "YOUR" eye
    Still awaiting I,"

It's saying that all religions think that everyone else is causing the hatred, yet in most cases they are the ones causing it.

Long story short "THINK FOR YOURSELF" don't believe everything you read or are taught. Anyone can be a sheep.

IMO, I'm sure a lot of people won't like it, but what the hell, I like to think for myself.
