This song IS NOT saying "hey, anal sex is cool!" -
it is a man who is abusing a woman and trying to convince her to have anal sex to bring them closer together, to show him that she loves him and he loves her, but it isn't about love - it is about domination and power.
He feels that even though they're different, they have a connection that is rare and thus begging her(?) to take a jump and try something out of her comfort zone.
I love the the caveman-ish lyrics to this song, makes it both weird and powerful, just like how love makes us feel sometimes!

I also think in some way it can be metaphorical...I have no idea for it.
'It brings us closer than dying...' part makes me think it might be. Like anal can bring people closer, cuz it's pretty intimate, but maybe things like pain, addiction ect. can bring people closer. Maybe that's what it refers too.
Seriously one of the best Tool songs, in my opinion.
