Lyrics for Angel as interpreted by zztzed

Angel Lyrics
Live in virtue, no desire
In the grave an angel's choir
You look to heaven and wonder why
No one can see them in the sky

Just as the clouds have gone to sleep
Angels can be seen in heaven's keep
Alone in fear they question why
Goddamn not an angel when I die

Angels live, they never die
Apart from us, behind the sky
They're fading souls who've turned to ice
So ashen white in paradise

Just as the clouds have gone to sleep
Angels can be seen in heaven's keep
Alone in fear they question why
Goddamn not an angel when I die

Goddamn not an angel when I die

THIS IS NOT A TRANSLATION OF "ENGEL".

It's a very bad English "version", basically with words intended to fit the meter that give a vague sense of the original song, done by someone connected to Rammstein's record label.

For a translation of "Engel", see the comments on it.

i think it was all translated for the English Speaking Masses pretty well.. save maybe for the first verse...

its mostly right and i think that as a person who speaks only extreamly limited German i can say that this version is much more "American Friendly" and as good as the original... but, of course, definatly not more so.

This version does not anywhere match the original "Engel". I know German quite well, if I daresay, and I can tell you the German lyrics are very much different.

It makes a pretty nice ring, even if the meaning is a little different from the German one. I think this song is about a different POV of angels. If you look at different kinds of art, angels aren't always like the ones in storybooks. They can punish, they even carry swords.

To me this song says that I can 'Go live a helluva life, and not worry about going to a heaven or a hell. If you are an angel, who would really know?' Sorry if that offends anyone, that's just the way I see this song.
