To me, "My December" is a metaphor. This song screams solitude. Loneliness. It's almost to a point of desperation, hence, "...give it all away, just to have someone to go to..." He's saying having ANYONE is better than this hollow, lonely feeling. It's better to share happiness with someone than to be alone with it.

^^This conveys regret, and feeling incomplete after a fight or argument despite winning (or not), because at the end of the day, something is still missing. That's enough to leave one regretting previous actions.
Personally, this song strikes a sentiment within me. It brings me back to a dark time in my life. I still feel this way: lonely.

"I give it all away, just to have somewhere to go to..." >> giving up one's sense of self worth to be in that relationship. A person making unhealthy compromises to be with someone who is not good for them and they are coming to realize how bad it has gotten. "My December" could mean the sad reality he has created for himself....he is partly to blame. He has said and done things he shouldn't have (see Mike Shinoda's part) in the relationship as well.
"This is me pretending this is all I need" >> trying to avoid the truth by acting as though this relationship is fulfilling and healthy.

But after I broke up with my gf I didn't really miss her because she used me....but than again this song really stuck out to me at the time

Just I would like to know which meaning you would give to this song when a man dedicate it to a woman saying that "I dedicate you this song, I identify you with her, I hope you will like it, this is a little gift"... (I love this song that I did not know, very special)But I do not have any news of him, i think he is someone who hide what he feels (good or bad; ashamed), and when I try to see him, he says me that he wants, that he has liked the moment together ( and i know that he loved this moment...)and at the end, we cannot see us...
