Little Sammy was a punk rocker
You know his mother never understand him
Went to his room and smashed his Billy Bragg record
Didn't want him to hear that communist lecture

Little Sammy was a punk rocker
You know his mother tried to take him to war
Sammy, now the war is over
Sammy, now we're at the wars end
We're at the wars end
We're at the wars end
We're at the wars end

Little Sammy was a punk rocker
Now it's time for you to leave home
Sammy, now the war is over
Sammy, now we're at the wars end
We're at the wars end
We're at the wars end
We're at the wars end

General Comment:I think its a Ramones tribute "Sammy was a punk rocker" Ramones song, "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" and Leave Home being a Ramones album.

General Comment:I dont think its literally about a war, but about a kid who's mom doesnt like his music or way of life so they're constantly fighting. I always thought that by saying "we're at the war's end" it meant that the kidw was older and getting ready to leave home so the fighting between him and his parents was over.
Either way, great song. I saw them play this in Montreal a few weeks ago and they did it slower without any drums, it was reallyg good.

General Comment:Those are all interesting interpetations of this awesome song. I always thought that war was supposed to be taken literally. I think its about a mom who was always trying to get her son to go fight in the war and he didnt want to, but that wouldnt make sense since wolves came out in '95, so i guess i'm wrong lol

General Comment:This song is so cool. Think most punks can relate to it. Weve all felt misunderstood sometimes, its one of my favourite rancid songs. Love the slower gentler start and then how it builds up. Yeah, cool

General Comment:i was sure it was father before but...whatever. billy bragg is the man.
i never really thought before that "war" isnt literal, just a metaphore for the escalating tension between sammy and his parents. this whole album is so poetic but in a really hard, punk way.
