One word: Acid. It's an ode to the paper he took so much at the time. He does it so much he gets close to it, kinda like a "sister". And maybe at the time he wanted to die on LSD, hence the line "She will bury me". The "once inside her" line is about how great it is to be on LSD, or "inside her" as the metaphor goes, and it's questionang why this thing of joy and beauty isn't legal.

That would explain the question i was gonna ask lukefun. I always wondered what kind of drugs S.P. did. I knew it wasn't coke, but now i could see acid, and of course the typical H all rockstars use. Interesting.

They used LSD. I think this song is about loving someone, but not being able to get away from them after you've broken up and moved on. Being attached to someone as though they were your sibling.

I agree with pinkbuss floyd that this tune, musically, is the very best on Gish. I heard it was all about acid too. I hate to imagine Billy all dosed out in the old days. I presume that's where a lot of creativity came from. What a simple but classic style of writing that works for him. FAST, slow, FAST, slow. Genious!

lukefun i think analyzing you would be harder than this song. But before any kind of remedy can be administered i have to know what you mean by \'its questioning why this thing of joy and beauty isn\'t legal\' ???? stop the drop pal, its not all about acid!

This song is about scratching the surface and getting inside someone so deep you start to discover things they never intended to arise. Although you love them unconditionally they run and hide leaving you broken and buried in the loss.

Yeah, it's a very ambiguous song, and it mght not be about LSD. But you have to learn that back then, Billy took LSD on a daily basis and it inspired a lot of his songs, and little would doubt there would be songs about the drug. Or maybe it's just about drugs in general, and "She will bury me" means that the drug will kill him.

James Iha's back up vocals were recorded just after he ate 5 Twinkies, 2 packs of M&M's, and a big glass of Mountain Dew. I remember reading that somewhere about 10 years ago. Anyway that's why he sounds a bit screwy!

this is definetely the best song on gish. luke you're retarded it takes a shit load of lsd to overdose, and billy didn't do drugs every day. The only song about lsd he sings is the a girl named sandoz cover. I hope you're paralyzed in a car accident.
