Lyrics for A Song For The Dead as interpreted by ikari

A Song For The Dead Lyrics
It's late enough to go drivin
See what's mine
Life's the study of dying
How to do it right
You're a holy roller
If you're bet in the loose
If you're hanging around
I'm holdin the noose

Come a little bit closer
And get untied
In a hearse rollin over
Just a track in the line
Fuck it

Come on, let's go drivin
Come on, let's take a little ride
That's the study of dying
How to do it right

this song isn't about suicide......
this song is about a man who's dead and there some people there who sing behind this grave....
then it's explaining some things...
life's the study of dying...
but sorry this song isn't about suicide and it's mentionned in the song.....just listen good to it.

it's not "fuck it", it's "fucked up", he says that a few times to cue dave to do the fumbly thing with the drums, and it makes me laugh every time...

crappy singer?! weak, dude... weak... ya, the idea of singing by someones grave, i dont know. even if it does work with the lyrics, the feel of the song totally wouldnt go with that idea. sweet song though. awesome guitar fills.

The singing is a perfect match for this song, and this song especially. Both voice and guitar clash together so fuck'n wickedly! haha **that's a word -wickedly- it just sounds funny** I love how this song was put together! Guitar fillers are the shit!

TREXOR is an idiot again! It seems as tho he is music incompetent. Whether it is TOOL, Korn, QOTSA, or any other music, his 3rd grade intelligence shows thru every time. Anyway, not that i have to tell you folks, but this song has the best drum intro ever! i fuckin love it!!!

For me it sounds like the Death.

"Come on, let's go drivin
Come on, let's take a little ride
That's the study of dying
How to do it right"

The study of dying is this "ride" (life)
and Death is calling you to take the ride
cause "It's late enough to go drivin"
This "late enough" could be the birth
(the whole life's a study of dying)
orthe start of the end of life.

And "If you're bet in the noose"
"I'm holding the noose"

That voice of Mark sounds kinda Death to me.

Come on, let's go drivin
Come on, let's take a little ride
That's the study of dying.
life is a drive. and it only lead to one place. DEATH. its about death, and how the road of life leads to it.

the way i see it, its about living life on the edge that you end up dying. learn about dying through experience. and then the afterlife is the same thing, you go balls to the walls and die again. and on and on. going fucking crazy til you die.

lol frost and mantis are completely deaf.
A sweet fact about this song is that david grohl created the drums before any of the other music was put to it.
If you listen you can tell that the drums carry the song.
And thats why its so bad ass.

This is one of those songs that you get a dark gloomy feel about without knowing the lyrics, the moaning the vocals, ery slide guitar. This is my favourite song to rock out, guitar solos and licks to keep you rocking for ever, and my favourite drumming to any song ever. This song shows how good Dave Grohl is and how inventive his drumming is. My favourite song on my favourite album. Maddness
