Lyrics for All Is Full of Love (Björk cover) as interpreted by toadtws

All Is Full of Love (Björk cover) Lyrics
You'll be given love
You'll be taken care of
You'll be given love
You have to trust it

Maybe not from the sources
You have poured yours
Maybe not from the direction
You are staring at

Twist your head around
It's all around you
All is full of love
All around you

(All is full of love)
You just ain't receiving
(All is full of love)
Your phone is off the hook
(All is full of love)
Your doors are all shut
(All is full of love)
In any language

All is full of love

Yes, this is a cover of the Bjork song. But the lyrics are slightly different ("In any language"), so I thought I'd include Death Cab's version here.

This song always makes me feel content. It seems to have a "hang in there" kind of message. And at the same time, it's letting "you" (the person the song is directed at) know that it's party their fault that they don't see the love in everyone and everything.

It's a hopeful song, and beautifully done.

I meant "partly their fault," of course. :*)

this is a great song, simple lyrics, but awesome message...I suppose the credit goes to bjork though when referring to the lyrics. I have yet to hear her original version

Yes, haha! That music is odd. I believe this song was for the Bjork tribute album was it not? I could be wrong. But I love Bjork and DCFC's version's both a lot. The Stability EP is so so good.

Actually thisisjustadream, this song was for fun. The song "Joga" was covered by Ben Gibbard (Lead singer of DCFC) for the album "READ: Interpretting Bjork" but the cd flopped. You can find it somewhere though...

i don't see the same "happiness" in this song that guys may see. the first verse explains how normal children are given alot of love and blindly accept it. Afterwards he (or bjork whichever) says that not everyone has been given that love eventhough it is everywhere. ( twist your head around, it's all around you). in the last verse those same people aren't receptive anymore to that love (all is full of love but you just ain't receiving) and he is also describing the behaviour of social phobic people.
In addition, the whole tone of this song is "dreamfull" and not very "hopefull". well that's how i percieved this song. any how i loved this song and dcfc is so awesome (eventhough this is a cover)

This song is not necessarily "happy" because frankly I cry when i hear it. to me the song showed how love is out there for all who can truly have faith and trust in it. It not always where you are looking and people so often substitute it with material things that won't last. this song talks about what love really is. It a feeling, the state of truly being content, and satistfied and complete. it is more than a word, but in recent years, the word has lost its sacredness. call me a romantic but with out the trust i have in love, i would be lost.

I think that there's two ways to interpret this song:

1) you think you're not receiving enough love when it is really all your fault for being so reserved: "your phone is off the hook, your doors are shut." So this song is hopeful, explaining that love IS out there, you just have to look for it.

2) Or maybe this song is meant to be sarcastic. I know that sometimes when I listen to this song, I cry because I find the words to be so untrue. It's as i'm singing the song hoping the words will come true but by the song's end, I know that they're not.

I just love this song, depending on my mood I can interpret it different ways. I can cry to it, I can be reassured by it, etc etc. DFCF = pure poetry

First off this is such a beautiful, truthful song. It brings me such a reasuring message. I dont agree with prefet's interpretation :).

The way I interpret it is not so specific. I think its stating that in every way, at every moment we are surrounded by love. It's in everything, always there, within us and trying to get our attention. But we are so stuck within the 'real world' that we miss it, we miss out on the beauty, and the truth. The magic that is really happening.
It says that to see this magic all we have to do is "twist our heads around", change our direction.
Seeing it is all to do with us and nothing to do with the truth. "All is full of Love", "You just ain't receiving".

The best thing is that even if we don't see it, it will still always be there, trying for our attention until we finally wake up.

Thats just my opinion anyway :), but im glad I have it.

I love this song, it really is beautiful. The lyrics seem to talk about a person that was emotionally hurt and has a hard time trusting people. And he may be singing to her b/c he really does love her and wants her to be able to trust it. It also sounds like she is closed up and shutting everything around her out.

This is really beautiful. One of my favorite songs by Bjork, and I'm not much of a Death Cab fan but I love this, they did it perfectly. I mean, fuck.

one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded...i think this version is slighly better than the one by Björk...just my opinion.
as far as i know Björk from interviews, this isn't meant to be sarcastic.

i think will all dcfc songs. they can like. empasize your mood. if you are sad and you listen to them, they will make you cry. but if you are happy, the same song can make you smile so much.

thats why i love them

No matter what, you will be loved; and you will have to trust the love that is given to you.
Now, it might not be what you expect. You might stare in one direction, and pour all of your love into one person; but that doesn't mean that love will be returned. You might spend your life staring at one person, and the love you recieve may come from behind you, from someone you didn't even realize was standing there. because all is full of love.
Now, if you want to lock yourself up, and take your phone off the hook because the one you love doesn't love you--go ahead, but you might miss the love that's meant for you.
No matter how many ways I say it, Love is all around you, and you can't deny it.
.f

p.s. it sounds so much better the way DCFC says it...and that's why they're the songwriters.

absolutely haunting and beautiful:
its about those who have given their best
and received nothing but grief in return.
it's about the breakdown of one's trust
in humanity.
its about having to go through all of this alone,
then shutting out the world.

that love is like air, all enveloping, all around and invisible. it's your right and it will love you , if you
open your doors and let the love in.
