Lyrics for Dammit as interpreted by TBSdude70x7

Dammit Lyrics
It's alright to tell me
what you think about me
I won't try to argue
or hold it against you
I know that your leavin
You must have your reasons
The season is callin
Your pictures are fallin down

The steps that I retrace
The sad look on your face
The timing, and structure
Did you hear that he fucked her?
A day late, a buck short
I'm writing the report
on losing, and failing
When I move, I'm flailing now

And it's happened once again
I'll turn to a friend
Someone that understands
Sticks to the masterplan
But everybody's gone
and I've been here for too long
to face this on my own
Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up

And maybe I'll see you
at a movie, sneak preview
You'll show up, and walk by
on the arm of that guy
And I'll smile, and you'll wave
We'll pretend it's ok
The charade, it won't last
When he's gone I wont come back

And it's happened once again
I'll turn to a friend
Someone that understands
Sticks to the masterplan
But everybody's gone
and I've been here for too long
to face this on my own
Well I guess this is growing up

Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up

I think Blink has good songs and they're hilarious, so I personally don't care whether people think they are sell-outs or not, they still have good music.

Absolute classic. Depicts dramatic teen life without flaw. I'll always remember this song. Thanks.

First and most importantly, this song sums up what it's like to "grow up." That's what it means to me. It's about a relationship gone wrong and learning from the experience and becoming more of an adult. It's an awesome song whether it's punk, pop-punk, alt. rock, nu metal, etc. I bet if you love punk but hate blink and you heard NOFX do a cover of it and you didn't realize it was blink, you'd like the song. Just stop dissing blink and accept the fact that this is a great song.

Now since ranting is all the craze on these boards, I have to add my two cents;

"if music is the universal language, then why can't people enjoy the fact that other people enjoy the same thing they do? "

That's probably the best post on this whole board. If you make good music, eventually someone at MTV is going to say, "hey, this is good, let's play it" and it will become mainstream. That's not really something you can help, in fact isn't that the point of music? Just because you don't like whoever you hear listen to it(and I won't lie, I really don't like seeing N*SYNC and blink on the same CD[I.E. NOW8]) doesn't mean it's bad music, actually I think that makes it better music. If people who don't normally like that kind of music like blink, it has a wider appeal and once again, music is made to be listened to. So, DON'T get upset when people listen to it. Even Scott says he makes music for the teenagers. Some of those teenagers listen to pop, SO WHAT. Someone said something about making so many CDs after Dude Ranch. If people like your music, you make more music, making more CDs, every band wants to keep making music, don't deny it. Blink makes music for the sake of making music, you want them to stay punk and yet you don't want them to change for anyone.
Blink just records what they come up with and if some of that isn't 'punk,' who cares? You're asking them to make music that would be fake if what's real is pop-punk, and you complain they are fake at the same time? Plus, some of you complain about posers liking blink and yet you say that you DON'T like blink since the "posers" have. That makes you the opposite of a poser, liking them until they become popular instead of liking them when they become popular, and in my opinion is almost as bad. You should stick with a band, saying, "They went mainstream, they suck" is like saying, "Other people like them, THEY'RE MINE AND NO ONE ELSE SHOULD LIKE THEM" A band isn't going to go to limits to make sure only a select group of people. You're 'mainstream' as soon as you're CD hits stores, because anyone can listen to it and say, "This is cool!" no matter what other bands(Britney Spears, N*SYNC, BSB) they listen to. After that, all the so-called, "true fans" are going to turn against them. Some fans.

I think I remember someone saying wa-ay back there that all bands want their music to be popular. Which isn't totally true. Some kids just get together to express themselves and have some fun doing it, a no-pressure-to-make-it-big type thing... So, I just wanted to clear up that not ALL bands want to do that... And as far as Blink goes, I enjoy their music. Those who don't, are allowed to feel that way. Heck, I know that I don't enjoy a lot of the music out there but I don't bash it... So, just remember what your mommy once told you "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

yes they sold out, but it doesn't matter. they are still a great punk band and dude ranch was still a pure punk album. you go to a blink concert and anytime they play their old stuff they say its for the true punk fans from before enema of the state. i'm proud to say that i'm one of those true fans that have listened and rocked out to blink from buddha and cheshire to enema and pants.

i listened to this song on graduation morning and i teared up. i took away the literal meaning of the girl and guy breaking up and i used them as metaphors for me and high school... we are splitting apart and going our own ways... we may see eachother down the road sometime but it will never be the same. it really made me think that graduation was really the turning point and i sang to myself... "well i guess this is growing up"

retsyn: they didnt sell out. to me, selling out means changing ur music in order to be mainstream. no, thats not the way it happened. their music evolved with them. and it just happened to be that the flavour of the week was that kind. they have jsut lasted a long time on this one. if that made sense. yes. anyways. if it didnt make sense yell @ me do w/e dont matter to me all i know is they didnt sell out cuz their music is a bit different, their music is different because they've grown musically, whats wrong with that?

givvr, sorry bud but you added an extra chorus, it's supposed to be:

It's alright to tell me what you think about me
i won't try to argue or hold it against you
i know that you're leaving. you must have your reasons
your season is calling. Your pictures are falling down.

The steps that i retrace the sad look on your face
the timing, the structure. did you hear? He f#cked her
a day late a buck short i'm writting the report on loseing and failing. when i move I'm flailling now.
There is now chorus between the lines "The season is calling and your pictures are falling down." and "The steps that I retrace, the sad look on your face." But umm, this song is about breaking up. In fact, Mark sad it was a song he wrote about a break up that never really happened. So yup....
