Lyrics for Dammit as interpreted by TBSdude70x7

Dammit Lyrics
It's alright to tell me
what you think about me
I won't try to argue
or hold it against you
I know that your leavin
You must have your reasons
The season is callin
Your pictures are fallin down

The steps that I retrace
The sad look on your face
The timing, and structure
Did you hear that he fucked her?
A day late, a buck short
I'm writing the report
on losing, and failing
When I move, I'm flailing now

And it's happened once again
I'll turn to a friend
Someone that understands
Sticks to the masterplan
But everybody's gone
and I've been here for too long
to face this on my own
Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up

And maybe I'll see you
at a movie, sneak preview
You'll show up, and walk by
on the arm of that guy
And I'll smile, and you'll wave
We'll pretend it's ok
The charade, it won't last
When he's gone I wont come back

And it's happened once again
I'll turn to a friend
Someone that understands
Sticks to the masterplan
But everybody's gone
and I've been here for too long
to face this on my own
Well I guess this is growing up

Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up

well for one blinks lyrics arnt good... their "funny" songs are just a poor juvenile attempt to be funny.... another thing is that they are assholes... scott left them cus he dint want to sell out and i guess they dint really care bout his opinion lol... they arnt even friends lol... and their music is also bad.... yeah i liked them for a week then i realized it was shit (along with eminem) and started listening to the wicked shit (good ol icp)

Their lyrics have meaning, half their songs arent supposed to be "funny" they just seem to have a good time with what they do.Scott sucked soo bad as a drummer anyways,he wasnt good enough for blink....Ľou are just too close minded to understand anyone else's view.By The Way ICP kicks @$$. :-D, And also Rancid,NOFX,Bad Religion are also sell outs..I have seen them on the warped tour.....on the big stages no less.......sell out?I think so....I also hear Bad Religion and Rancid on the radio a lot does that make them sell outs? And If I am not mistaken they also have countless videos on mtv and mtv2 and much music.....Does that make them sell outs? If you dont think so then the same goes for blink 182. You dont make any sense?

I love Blink's music, It's great all around. I don't care whether their sell outs or not, posers or not, punk or not. Their music kicks ass, it's up beat and fun to listen too. I'm sure in some of your minds their are better "punk bands" but I probably wouldn't like them. I'd rather be a sellout, poser, not-punk, fan of Blink than listen to your shit.

You "totally hard core punk rockers" need to read some of these posts before you actually post because your all just restating the same bs over again that all your other big ballin punk rockin non sold out home frys have said. Blink is a great band that produces quaility music that many people enjoy. This song particular is one of their best. It explains a situation that we all have found too common and encouragess us to be tough with the line, "and when he's gone, I wont come back." great song

this song reminds me of so many different times in my life. it makes me cry almost every time i hear it. i kno its pretty old but i cant get over how good it is. it totally describes the life of every teenager, and it speaks to me so much. its not just the lyrics that get to me, the music itself is awesome. i love this song so much.

making money has nothing to do with selling out, it's when your music changes after you've signed with a major record label, and that's exactley what happened to blink-182

First of all why do people all waste all of their time cutting down other bands and ragging on music they don't like? Maybe you should focus on bands that you feel strongly about and try to defend them to people like yourselves. Music isn't about being one thing or another. The Ramones, Rancid- all the breakthrough punk bands were trying to change the idea that music can de defined and categorized. That is what punk is.......music that means something to the listener- not to everyone. To each his own:Lay the hell off each other, and support who you like. No one has to like the music you do.

This is one of my fave songs ever. Blink rocks! And who cares if they did/didn't sell out? All that matters is the music. If some people would just stop crying over the fact that Blink is making more money than the bands they like (which most of them haven't been heard of), than maybe they'd see how great Blink is and finally stop whinning about it. Blink 182 *FOREVER*!

i posted this on "stay together for the kids", but i can see it applies here as well. i hope it clears stuff up for those who don't understnad why we punks get so pissed over blink's behavior:
there was a time when blink was once one of the most respected punk bands around. (and just because i might post a few things about the band doesn't mean i ignore the music i love.) it's just that there are a lot of music fans out there who don't understand, and they all think we're selfish assholes because we call blink "sell outs". allow me to put it like this: ralph nader, leader of the green party, man of strong ideals. small national support, but his followers are die hard. and he is the man that keeps the green party at the cutting edge. what if he were to just jump ship to the republican party because the money and fame and powerr is greater there? he would be playing to a larger fan base and making more money, so it would be a great move for him. but what about his loyal supports and fellow green party members who stay true to their work and refuse to jump ship? that is what the punks are like. you see, selling out is a touchy term for us. bands like dmb seel out, but their fans don't lead a "dmb" lifestyle. there is no lifestyle devoted to saxophones, violins and nonsense rhyming. punk is a way of life, though, and when a band like blink exploits that, we have a right to be angry. does that mean we lose sight of what it is we stand for, or that we ignore the other bands? no. standing up for something doesn't mean you ignore your ideals. and i don't mean to trash blink's music. they are a talented band, and anyone who wants to can like them. but to me, their sound is becoming all too familiar with each new song. their growth as artists has seemed to stop. but, no, that doesn't mean people don't have the right to listen to them. everyone likes different stuff, and i respect that. i just don't respect blink.

blink didnt start a band to not be heard, they started a band to be heard and popular, no one starts just to play, if you do, then dont bother playing shows...

this music is music, so quit arguing, especially over the internet, damn...

I came to this from the latest comment...
I agree with zero-himself. Bands dont start out and hope to stay underground bands. none of them. They all wish to make lots of money and become liked. If you dont like it fine but dont leave comments bashing bands for the people who do like it. Bosco sure seems to think hes got "punk" all figured out.. music IS music and to each his own.. so like what you like and blink fans will like blink.

To NOFXJuggaloGirgo: I agree with you about Blink not being punk but the only band that you mention that was truly punk where the Ramones (RIP Joey) they are true punk the Clash is included there also but most bands today with the sounds such as Blink are consider Punk cause thats how the public (teens) see it, not like back with they Ramones , Clash, even the Sex Pistols punk was based on lyrics against authority.

too bad that old 70s punk was so awful! lets just talk about the song not about if their sellouts or not, bands will come and go but the song will last forever right? even if they are sellouts this is an amazing song that no one should knock. I mean its got everything, catchy hooks, funny lyrics and awesome melody. I like Nofx and all them too but punk is punk is punk and you have to listen to all of it before you knock something. some of you make me sick

BLINK 182 rocks....too bad they sold out.. I totally agree with NOFXJuggalo. They have put out some good songs after this, but not this good. This is one of there all-time better songs. None of there new songs can compete cause none of them have Scott Raynor. But Oh well. If so many pop-kids werent so into there songs it wouldnt be that bad cause i though Blink was supposed to be PUNK but when All the Small things is in a 5-year old sing-along cd/video, somethings wrong. they still rock though. I just wish they would play more than 2 pre-enema songs @ Concerts. ((hint hint mark and tom))

FUCK YEAH bosco...i totally agree, i just didnt read your post till i put up mine. This takes me back to time in 1997 when Dude Ranch came out and I got it. Some prep rolled up to me and noticed my sticker that had blink182. He then asked who they were and i was like, The tightest punk band ever. Now, 5 years and what 3 or 4cds later everyone knows them.. Thats why us true punk fans are pissed zero. Blink started out with punk and was doing well... What there last few cds have been is poppy aka changing styles.. Hence the sell out part. If they kept being punk and more ppl just got into punk, id be like hell yeah and would do a jig on my table. But with songs like Adam's Song and All The Small Things?? Come on dude. I gotta give them props for choosing First Date as a video cause that song rocks, but not for changing their style of music.
