Lyrics for Behind Me Lies Another Fallen Soldier as interpreted by timmus

Behind Me Lies Another Fallen Soldier Lyrics
i want to bring You all that is in my heart
i want to bring You my everything
but i've failed You so many times
how can i stand here before You
when i begin to steal what only belongs to You
i am able to bring You nothing that isn't already Yours
i am so ashamed of what i ever called my own
take what i have, take these broken remains
what can i give You that You don't already deserve
You laid down Your life when i refused to give mine

This is such a powerfil song. It amazes me how he can scream and yet make something have such an overwhelming sadness and not sound in the least bit angry. This song is so much more than music.

its truth. its his own truth. how many songs have been written that JUST tried to express a feeling or a notion. This song says exactly what he thinks. i am a big fan of this "direct" speech. he barely uses metaphors or anything else to describe what he feels - itīs just ment as said.

I don't really see how he got the title for this song, but it's still awesome. His lyrics sound like he's writing down prayers and then putting music to them. That's what's great about these guys: I can follow along with their songs and totally feel the Spirit.

This seems like a very emotional one from the album. he feels what god gave us isnt even close to what he did for us.

Unless the writer of this song lost a friend in the army...then...I believe this song to be about the writers relation with Christ, the word you is capitalized in the middle of sentences. 'You laid down your life when I refused to give mine.' Meaning Christ laid down his life, and that second part Im a bit confused on

Christ unselfishly gave up his life for everyone's sins.

He's greedy and is thanking Christ for giving up his life, and he's saying that Christ is completely unselfish because no one else would do the same.

Just saying that he isn't sure he could do what Christ did for all of us... I'm Jewish and I understand that.

This song is about coming b4 God and wanting to bring You all that is in his heart. But feeling not good enough in the eyes of God. Feeling as though he has failed God so many times. (I am so ashamed of what i ever called my own) feeling ashamed in God presence. But through this shame he is asking God to (take what i have, take these broken remains) He is offering it all to God. the last line says (You laid down Your life when i refused to give mine) refering to jesus who layed down his life on the cross for ua all. but we offen hold on to things when we should give our "whole" life to him.

This is a really powerful song, to me. I read alot of these comments, and some people are trying to say As I Lay Dying are not religous, but you can deffentaly see it in this song. This song is about someone wanting to love Christ as much as Christ loves him to give his life up for him. But, he wants to give more than he can. The line "but i've failed You so many times" is meaning he can't serve him as good as he wants, and failed him, or sined. "You laid down Your life when i refused to give mine" is about how christ died on the cross for US, but this person just can't. Powerful song, one of my favorts.

this is as i lay dying's best song. it's emotional yet heavy, powerful and moving, and also shows their amazing skills as both musicians and writers. this song may have a religous meaning to it as indicated by others: but i also think it is about the loss of one of his best friends - almost a realisation of the sheer horror of the world today. as if this person was one of many who he lost (hence the title behind me lies another fallen soldier) but it means so much more to him and really opened up his eyes to what friendship is about.

that to me is what this song is about: friendship.

This song is about God. Going before him, knowing that he has failed him and is ashamed. He is looking for forgiveness, "take what i have...what can i give to you..." Such a powerful song, so much emotion in his screaming.

As for the title, I think 'Soldier' is reference to a 'servent' of God. And he is basically confessing, and asking for forgiveness, he reliezes that he is not the only one who has fell victum to failing God, so therefore behind him there are more servents that have failed.

omg asitallends im afraid you were way off dude....the title is not literal....the song is about his relationship with God...i dont need to explain anymore. the lyrics do the best explanation and i wouldnt be able to explain it well enough to do justice to the song in itself. this song is truely amazing and i think every person who believes in God can relate to this song. not saying people who dont believe in God can't, but it would be very different.

This song is clearly about the lyricwriter's relationship with God, as someone already stated.

This song is straight praising, like ZAO's first CD. I mean, it is so damn awesome to have this kinda music. REALLY heavy and yet it's praising Jesus. WOW.

One day I hope you guys are there to hear as we (our band) have made something as inspiring as this. Praising Jesus and shouting Jesus. It's awesome.

God Bless.

But Remember Arthwatever.. Being A Christian isn't all about praising Jesus at the top of your lungs.. It's hard. It's really hard. So PLEASE when you write Lyrics, and be like us, write about experiences, and how Christ brought you through them.. because that is the only way people will want to listen.. Singing Praises to Christ is good, and there is a place for that.. But in Your own written music, write what non Christians can relate too.. otherwise make a Praise and worship Band.. Either way it's all good.. and you probably knew this already, but just in case you didn't.. Yea.. And Zao Is sweet, Clearly the Best band in the world. Followed by this one, As i lay dying.
