Lyrics for Daylight as interpreted by twitty

Daylight Lyrics
To my suprise,
my daylight,
I saw sunrise,
I saw sunlight.

I am nothing,
in the dark,
and the clouds burst,
to show daylight.

oooo, and the sun shines,
yeah on this sunrise.
oooo, and I realise
who could live without,
who could part without, it.

On a hill top,
on a skyrise,
like a first born, child,
on the full day,
on the full flight,
if the darkness,
make the daylight.

oooo, and the sun shines,
yeah on this sunrise.
oooo, when I realise,
who could I live without,
who could I part without, daylight.

Slowly breaking through the daylight,
Slowly breaking through the daylight,
Slowly breaking through the daylight,

Slowly breaking...

Great song, one of my favorites on the album, but the lyrics are a bit off. It's hard to get them right, though, since they're so drawn out. Many listenings are necessary.

Hey omegusprimer...you're a moron. On a good note, this song is amazing but it always reminds me of vampires for some reason. Weird.

favourite line...
"ooh and the sun will shine, yeah on this heart of mine"

...which i think all of us should remember...
i mean despite the bad, things usually work out for the better.

I'm waking up but I don't feel refreshed...great tune, but Apple Paltrow's father did not make me want to wake up. This is lullaby music...

Try listening to this song on a sunrise walk. Especially when you have something planned to do that day, it helps you look forward to it and look at the beauty of the earth.

I believe Chris may metaphorically be saying that without the good parts in life, the bad would be unbearable. How we continue to hold on throughout the bad, waiting for the good (the sunshine) to peak through into our lives once again.

this song makes me think of waking up really early to get into the car for a long, long drive. and that's what my life consists of these days, so i find myself listening to this song often.

it's always struck me as a melancholy song, for some reason.

This is one of their most powerful songs.

I see it an individual's personal experience of God in their own life. They begin by realizing their own powerlessness, and accepting it ("I am nothing / in the dark"). After they surrender their ego, they are able to accept the grace of God ("and the clouds burst / to show daylight"). They are overwhelmed by it, and it gives them a fresh perspective on life ("ooo and the sun shines / on this heart of mine"), to the point that they wonder how they ever got along without it. They feel that they are being 'lifted up' ("on a hilltop / on a skyrise") and set apart/consecrated - ("like a first born" - see Numbers 18:15-16 in the Bible). The purpose of the redemption is that they may be ready to fight evil. The final part of the song is a bit more difficult. The extreme repetition suggest a gradual movement of the redeemed person's soul toward heaven - hence the "breaking through the daylight." They are going to the source of the daylight, which is God. The daylight mentioned throughout the song represents love.

After a long journey on the internet for the right lyrics.. i found these.. i think it's from the official coldplay website.. so don't dare to doubt these :P:

To my suprise,
and my delight,
I saw a sunrise,
I saw a sunlight.

I am nothing,
in the dark,
and the clouds burst,
to show daylight.

oooo, and the sun shined
yeah on this heart of mine.
oooo, and I realise
Could i live without it,
Could i part without it.

On a hill top,
on a skyrise,
like a first born, child,
on a full day,
on a full flight,
defeat darkness,
breaking daylight.

oooo, and the sun shined
yeah on this heart of mine.
oooo, and I realise,
could I live without,
could I part without, daylight.

Slowly breaking through the daylight,
Slowly breaking through the daylight,
Slowly breaking through the daylight,

Slowly breaking...

I think this lyrics changes the whole song meaning.
When i read these lyrics.. i really began to love this song.
Especially the parts> defeat darkness, breaking daylight and yeah the sun shined on this heart of mine.
It talks about something higher and spiritual.
I love those guys!

ps: i do really agree with Matt Green!

wait... you took a long journey on the internet... and then you found it on the Coldplay official website..?! where the hell did you start looking..?? ;)

anyway, I didn't like this song at first, but now I really like it, it's very different somehow. I like Matt Greens interpretation, I hadn't thought of it like that before.

In fact... I find it rather hard to believe that you found these lyrics on the Coldplay official website... I'm just really not in the mood to check it to be sure, but I really think it is a strange coincidence that these lyrics look very much like you tried to correct the other ones.. I don't mean to be picky, but in both versions:

1. 4 "o"s.. ("oooo")

2. The end is exactly the same (three times the whole line and once half the line and three dots after it):
"Slowly breaking through the daylight,
Slowly breaking through the daylight,
Slowly breaking through the daylight,

Slowly breaking..."

3. the same letters are capitalised.. everywhere, except where there are changes, of course.

I just hate when people lie. Maybe you weren't but then I guess it's a strange coincidence..
