10,000 Miles
(Traditional)

Fare thee well
My own true love
Farewell for a while
I’m going away
But I’ll be back
Though I go 10,000 miles

10,000 miles
My own true love
10,000 miles or more
The rocks may melt
And the seas may burn
If I should not return

Oh don’t you see
That lonesome dove
Sitting on an ivy tree
She’s weeping for
Her own true love
As I shall weep for mine

Oh come ye back
My own true love
And stay a while with me
If I had a friend
All on this earth
You’ve been a friend to me

General Comment:I will close my eyes, and let this song bring back memories of the one I loved. Life is hard, grief is hard, but this song is beautiful. When the tears dry up, I feel better.

General Comment:When I moved, this song was like therapy.
It is crisp and dreamy, almost like you're on a ship or plane moving very fast past mountains and such above the ground. It allowed me to forget my surroundings, if only for a little bit.

    General Comment:its so beautiful..
when i feel sad, and i turn this song on, it feels like i am floating away ..

i wish i had a girl that i would love.. and never had to say farewell to her.. its harsh to feel like swaying away every time i try to love someone..

General Comment:this song just makes me think. i think it has a lot of meanings to it. maybe it's about your loved one, your friend, or family member dying. or maybe its about leaving them. either way, its just becautiful; i can't even explain. for me, right now, it's not being able to see my family members for a while because of some problems. "farewell for awhile, i'm going away. but i'll be back."

i also like the last verse :]

General Comment:this song is amazingly beautiful. it's a song about death of your own true love...it's not one singing to the other but rather them singing to each other about how they still love one another and miss each other and how much they meant to each other.

General Comment:I'm moving to Canada from England in the next few months and this song just seems to fit perfectly the way I feel about leaving my friends and the guy I like. It's such an amazing song.

General Comment:this song always reminds me of my two best friends one who died in this past January and the other over the summer the part where it says
    If I had a friend
    All on this earth
You’ve been a friend to me

    it always gets to me...
