Well, I'm lookin' at you,
and I'm wond'rin' what you're gonna do.
Looks like you got no friends,
no one to stick with you till the end.

Take yourself a friend.
Kep 'em till the end.
Whether woman or man,
it makes you feel so good,
so good.

Yes, you think you're all right,
and now you're lonely ev'ry night.
Well, you need a friend,
someone on whom you can always depend.

Take yourself a friend.
Kep 'em till the end.
Whether woman or man,
it makes you feel so good,
so good.

Yes, you need some advice.
Well, let me put it to you nice.
I said you need a friend,
someone who'll stick with you to the end.

Take yourself a friend.
Kep 'em till the end.
Whether woman or man,
it makes you feel so good,
so good.

General Comment:Here's to the piece of shit who wouldn't know a real friend if one bit him in his gay butt. I choose to be online because i'm tired from working. I don't feel loneliness because i have real friends. I don't have your disorders. And I don't fuck teens. The difference between us is where you'll be in a few years (alone) and where I'll be (in a wonderful loving, fun relationship). Now take your overused penis and stick it in a gullible young person who will do as usual...dump you within a few months, at the most.

My Interpretation:This is one of my favorite songs on the album and there's one thing I feel a lot of people failed to notice... I'm currently reviewing the entire Rush chronology and evaluating how styles evolve throughout their career and I realized that this song succeeds Need Some Love. It's a bit of a "duh" moment, but I hear this song and realize it's a response, that the narrator of each song isn't necessarily Geddy. The narrator of Take a Friend may or may not be Geddy, but he seems to be responding to the narrator in Need Some Love. He states "I said you need a friend. Someone who'll stick with you to the end" and that can be seen as a suggestion to the previous song's narrator that a platonic relationship is often more satisfying and longer lasting than a romantic one.
