Lyrics for Early Sunsets Over Monroeville as interpreted by Savant

Early Sunsets Over Monroeville Lyrics
Late dawns and early sunsets
Just like my favorite scenes
Then holding hands
And life was perfect
Just like up on the screen
And the whole time while always giving
Counting your face among the living
Up and down escalators
Pennies and colder fountains
Elevators and half price sales
Trapped in by all these mountains
Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me here
Not knowing you'd change from just one bite
I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger
Your eyes vacant and stained

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
And would anything matter if you're already dead?
And now should I be shocked by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger
Your eyes vacant and stained
And in saying you loved me
Made things harder at best
And these words changing nothing
As your body remains
And there's no room in this hell
There's no room in the next
And our memories deafeat us
And I'll end this direst

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger
Your eyes vacant and stained
And in saying you loved me
Made things harder at best
And these words changing nothing
As your body remains
And there's no room in this hell
There's no room in the next
But does anyone notice there's a corpse in this bed?

I don't think this song is about the movie, gerard would almost say anything to throw people off track, like when he said that "Vampires..." was about librarian eating cheerios (or spaghettio's).

I think he used the movie's storyline and applied it to his lyrics, and he ended up with this.
I mean, why would he start crying in the middle of the song if it was about some stupid movie about zombies.

Now, to Graham fucktard:
Listen up jackass, it's emo, you either live with it and stop listening to it or go fuck yourself!
And how the hell would you know so much about the band since you hate it so much, or are you one of these idiots who used to love them and suddenly got influenced by his older brother who listens to so called real music like "judaspriest" and shit like that.
and nobody tried to be cool on the first album if you REALLY knew the band you'd know that they never commercialised it and made only one cheap video which in any teenie's definition would NOT be cool.

You have failed at being smart ass snot nosed fucker sir!!! so Good Day SIR!!!!

Good job, Mr. B12. You use a smart and correct choice of words. Swearing really makes me respect you and your descisions that much more, thank you for opening my eyes. I actually do know the band, because as Sun Tzu said "you must know something before you despise it." I do know this band and I know about them, probaly as good or better then you do. And pal, no matter how much you wish the otherwise, My Chemical Romance has indeed commercialized. Do you really think that they are as famous as they are today because so many people love thier music? Cause if so you are not bright my good man. Thier record agency/manager got them to where they are by begging powerhouses such as MTV and VH1 to show thier videos.

You think your intelligent but just like the others you fail.

P.S. Though I do not personally like Judas Priest, or judaspriest as you put it, at all, I do respect them because they can write a song and they dont sing about things to get people sad. My Chemical Romance is the polar oppisite. And if you hate the "so called real music" so much then the shit you call bands would also be hated by you. You can quote me on this, Every single band today is heavily inspired by the bands of the 70's. You fail B12.

Wow, I never expected That.
You're Good Graham.
Looks like I'll Have to Talk Your language.

I won't need to swear in this post since I have Heavily Misjudged you.
Turns out You're Not as narrow minded as other emo haters on this forum.
As you see, i quite enjoy listening to this band mainly because the negative energy invested in their songs does Not affect me.
But what gets me is the rare creativity found in some of their songs.
Although I have to agree that commecialism is what actually gave My Chemical Romance A shot At success when their second album came out.
You also have a point there, This band is heavily inspired by Queen and The Vandals (Which are both 70's Bands).
And Judas Priest must be one of the bands I despise the most, And believe me i do know alot about the band, as you quoted before "you must know something before you despise it."

My intelligence Is probably not as developped as yours, but still I try.
I can tell when I'm Beaten, but I'm not Afraid to accept failure, You win graham.
Until Next Time.

P.S.:
You're Right, No One really likes listening to bands singing about suicide, but people love bands who have a heart and talk about their social, that's why emo is so popular among the youth and especially girls, not because the band members are "hott", but because they put their heart and soul through these lyrics, and seeing an open hearted man will put a smile on any girl's face anywhere, anytime.

Sorry I insulted you in the first post, but by the looks of what you wrote back in page 2, i thought you'd be one of these brainless morons who hate the band as a sign of strength and emotionlessness, but i was wrong.

My Chemical Romance is still a great band.

B12, in my book you are now someone of great respect. I respect your descision to love this band, however much I despise it. You are a good person by the sounds of it, and I apologize for my earliers posts as well. Instead of me winning, lets call it a draw. You have a lot of respect in my book now. Good job, cause most people do not have the same respect you do. I will try to develop a taste for this band just because of you. You are one of the few I have respect for.

Thank you very much, i also hold you high in regard.
And I hope someone will someday look at this band's music the way I do.
Because most people around this forum are either captivated by the morbid lyrics or the band members.
It sometimes shocks people that i also enjoy listening to bands like Symphony X, being the polar opposite of MCR, but I try keeping a diversity in my choice.
Good Day Everyone.

this song to me is about being with the person you love while everyday things are still going on
And the whole time while always giving
Counting your face among the living
Up and down escalators
Pennies and colder fountains
Elevators and half price sales

They leave the mall and zombies (dawn of the dead kicks in) are following them.

Trapped in by all these mountains
Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me here
Not knowing you'd change from just one bite
I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight

hes trying to fight off the zombies but they bit her already

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger
Your eyes vacant and stained

dose anyone notice but him that his Girl friend is a zombie and he realizes he has to kill her cause she is a zombie "And if I had the guts to put this to your head" but he is still contemplating about it because he says "But would anything matter if you're already dead?"

and after tht life is getting worse for him he feels bad about killing his GF so he kills himself in his bed.
And there's no room in this hell
There's no room in the next
But does anyone notice there's a corpse in this bed?this is wht i got from the song

Well. i never would have thought of dawn of the dead when i heard the song, even though ive seen it a few times....when i first heard the song this is what i got from it:

(Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me here
Not knowing you changed from just one bite
I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight)
i thought he was referring "you" as a girlfriend or lover in this section but when the song went on:
(But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger,
Your eyes vacant and stained...)
i thought that the "you" in this section, he was referring to himself. i figured he was having problems with his gf/lover and was depressed and didnt know how to cope besides suicide. i had a visual picture of the writer looking at his reflection in the mirror talking to himself about having guts to put the gun to his head and referring to the vacant stained eyes as his own after crying. thats just what i thought....

wow. the dawn of the dead thing is incredible. but i personally think that he has placed himself in the movies situation, with a lover. and is speaking about his reactions, which explains the lines which didnt happen in the move. however, ive only seen the remake, not the original, so i may be talking a lot of shit here

I've never seen dawn of the dead but it reminds me of 28 days later, I'm guessing the same sort of storyline, one bite/ blood contact and you have about 10 seconds to kill the person before they kill you... even if it's your best friend, your father, your daughter.... By the way, B12, I don't think gerard is crying about "some stupid movie", he's imagining what it would be like to be in that situation. I guess you would cry if you had to kill the person who meant the most to you in the world even though you knew it wasn't really them, it's a horrible thought...

you got it all wrong.
What i was trying to say was that Gerard wouldn't be crying if it was about the movie, cause it's not.
He's imagining what it would be like if were to happen to him, so i don't really blame him.
On the other hand, if it really was about the movie, the crying would have been unnessecary.
So, even if it sounds like he's only referring to the movie, believe me, it's not. He's placing himself in a situation similar to the movie's.
(I think it once happened to him)

Oh my god does anyone ever read the other comments. It's about the movie. I even posted the part of an interview where Gerard said it's about the movie. So stop saying it's not unless you know.

please sweet decay, try not to open your mouth if you don't have anything useful to say.
If you had really read the other posts you'd know that the song is connecting between gerard's current state and the movie.
and second of all gerard never reveals the true meanings of his lyrics check all the other song posts and you'll know he made up almost 6 different meanings for "Vampires Will Never Hurt You", but you woudn't know about that, would you?
You can't possibly call yourslef a real fan.

how can people be so closeminded as to believe that this song is JUST about the movie? there is no way that such a powerful song could be about, and ONLY about a zombie movie. i am telling you, regardless of what gerard said, that there is more to the song then the zombie premsis.

MCR is my favorite band and they are awesome!!!!! I agree with pretty much everything that people before me have said. I do have something to add to the side of the song that a guy's girlfriend does something or something happens to her (Not knowing you'd change from just one bite)
He also sings of running and trying to hide. He sees where things are leading and tries to run away to stop it, such as getting her away from something bad, such as a bad influence, but he later sees that it is of no use and knows that he has to end the relationship.

this is an awsum song.... it has so much feeling and emotion in it... MCR ALWAYS puts emotion into their songs .... obviosly. this song means alot to me i alwayz listen to it when i feel depressed .... it always makes me feel better... its very mellow and calming... but it still keeps that hardcore punk edge to it. sooo yeah ... n e ways *the orange i choked* *refering to your entry on 10-08-2004* i cudnt have put that into better words if i tried. i think thats exactly what the song is about.

lol. hey, inahailofbullets, yeah i kno im a little mentally screwed over but i mean, who isnt? but what im trying to get at is that since the song is depressing and if your depressed i think it wud be a great song to listen to cuz it feels like there is someone there with you to feel the pain. and being depressed with someone (or in this case something) else is better than having no one understand u.

I'm agreeing with the person who mentioned dawn of the dead.
But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
But would anything matter if you're already dead?

"already dead" wink wink. It is, like every one of mcr's song, absolutely amazing.
