Lyrics for Early Sunsets Over Monroeville as interpreted by Savant

Early Sunsets Over Monroeville Lyrics
Late dawns and early sunsets
Just like my favorite scenes
Then holding hands
And life was perfect
Just like up on the screen
And the whole time while always giving
Counting your face among the living
Up and down escalators
Pennies and colder fountains
Elevators and half price sales
Trapped in by all these mountains
Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me here
Not knowing you'd change from just one bite
I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger
Your eyes vacant and stained

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
And would anything matter if you're already dead?
And now should I be shocked by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger
Your eyes vacant and stained
And in saying you loved me
Made things harder at best
And these words changing nothing
As your body remains
And there's no room in this hell
There's no room in the next
And our memories deafeat us
And I'll end this direst

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger
Your eyes vacant and stained
And in saying you loved me
Made things harder at best
And these words changing nothing
As your body remains
And there's no room in this hell
There's no room in the next
But does anyone notice there's a corpse in this bed?

ok the song is about dawn of the dead, by far. blobert shows this perfectly and picked up on every detail in the whole song. I got the hint with the description of the mall when i watched to movie, but i didn't know about the song 'Romance' and how its played during the poker scene, and it is basically note for note. thats great you picked up on that man.

This song is awesome. And I don't know, while I think there may be some merit to the interpretation of the Dawn of the Dead, I'd rather stick with the take on ending a relationship that is bound to kill you both. It appeals more to human experience; after all, how often do we get run out of town by zombies?

This song has been the reason why I got through parting with my best friend..I'd feel like crying, and then i'd come home, turn it on and I'd lay on my bed and let everything slip away..and it was good. I dont know, sounds pretty childish but it was a cop-out..It kinda makes me feel numb, but at the same time happy (dont ask why) so ya.. this song means a lot to me and i cannot wait to see my chemical romance in february and on the warped tour.

this song makes me cry each night i listen to it as i go to sleep. it makes me think of killing the person you love so much. i sorta think of people not noticing me when i listen to it tho. like..."does anyone notice, does anyone care..."...and sorta makes me think of killing my mother at the same time. then relationships. i am a confused person..this song helps me so much. so dont even pay any attention to this.

All though it looks like you guys pretty much got it already Gerard said in an interview that it is basically about Dawn of the Dead. Which is about Zombies (not vampires).
Also My Chem didn't wright Romance. No one knows who wrote it. It's from the 1600's. Gerard said they wanted to start the album with some kind of anominity

A love song about Dawn of the Dead? Incredible

"There's no room in this hell" is a direct reference to the tagline from the movie
"When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the Earth!"

"And if I had the guts to put this to your head" This line gets to me. It's like putting the gun to your lovers head and pulling the trigger. It's hard because they still look like who they were before they were transformed.

god damnit. what is it with you ignorant fucks? this song has NOTHING to do with that movie or your bitching mall. you people are rididulous if you truly belive this. that is not what the song is about. maybe the premisis of a zombie story, probabaly dawn of the dead, was used as a backset for the song, but it is simply a metaphor. his girl is not a zombie and he doenst have to kill her. its about letting go of something you love. he has to realize that its too late and hes done everything he can do to tryn to save their relationship, but now hes got to end it because now all it can bring him is pain. its about letting go.. its about how much it hurts to loose something that is a huge peice of you. sorry to freak out, but you were wrong.

i think this is just a beautiful song. when i first heard it, i immediately thought that it was about vampires, and his love was bitten ("Not knowing you'd change from just one bite, I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight") and he was sheilding the vampires off from her. and besauce she was a vampire, he had to kill her to save himself. and also how it says "But would anything matter if you're already dead?" because vampires are like the dead, but now that i heard its about Dotd, it makes a lot of sense. i admit at first i had no idea what the monroeville was for... i like the song better now that i know what its really about.

rypic_beatles_MCR is gonna feel like a dumbass when he/she/it reads this.
You wanna call someone an ignorant fuck? How about calling yourself that because Gerard even said that this song is about Dawn of the Dead. He wrote it about the movie. If you don't believe me you can go look at the article for yourself.
http://groups.msn.com/UltimateMyChemicalRomanceSite/anotherinterview.msnw

The question was
Certain songs on your album stand apart as very different from the rest; “Romance” is an instrumental mariachi song, “Headfirst for Halos” has a pop punk vibe, “Early Sunsets Over Monroeville” is more emo. Do you find yourselves drawn to different genres of music?
and part of the answer was
“Monroeville” is a sweet song about “Dawn of the Dead,” the movie
So you're the one that is wrong. I love when people think they know everything and then they're made to look like jackasses when they're wrong.
Anyway, I love this song, especially the ad-libbed parts at the end. This is my all time favorite My Chemical Romance song.

i never really listened to this song before, i thought it was a bit tame. but then i actually caught what he was singing, and i read the lyrics, and woah! its fucing brilliant, how it all builds up then when it sounds like he will burst into tears theres the line 'but does anyone notice there's a corpse in this bed.' and just silence. it actually brings chillls down my spine.
i think this has multiple meanings, like the dawn of the dead theorie, but also what the-orange-i-choked was getting at. i guess it just makes it easy to relate to, but anyway, woah this album deserves so much more credit than mcrs newest one does.

This song is horrible. My Chemical Romance is a band of talentless freaks. moping around about how the world sucks for you is not music, it is just bullshit.

My Chemical Romance could be the worst possible band that has ever had the misfourtune to walk the Earth. For all I care they can go just cut their wrist and fuck up and die. And for everyone who says that these are few times you will hear a perfect song, you are wrong. My chemical Romance's songs do not take a talented person to write them. Their music is just bullshit that someone thought they might be cool if they wrote it. No one wants to hear about killing themselves. You god damn queers.

It's funny how you wasted time to type out two messages on seperate occasions, just to say how much you hate a band or how talentless they are. You're probably just one of those people that are fronting and feel they have to hide their My Chemical Romance cd's behind their secret stash of Morrisey records. Get a life, and stop resenting people for the talent they have, and that you lack. You cannot bash a band that you know nothing about. They are not in any way trying to be "cool." They are just trying to put out a message that arrogant assholes like you can't seem to understand.

No sir, whats funny is how you dont know me but you pretend to your false post. I ,in fact, do know the band, which is why I am posting this. And sir on another note, no matter how much you would like to not believe it, they are trying to be cool. Its something that all bands almost have to do to keep up with other album sales. You are the kind of lazy asshole who makes me hate this band. You failed on everything that you said about me.

Incredible song. Now i have three ways of thinking of it.

1- The girl he is talking (singing) about is a vampire (or was turned into one) and now he has to kill her but he loves her so much that he just cant do. Eventually he will though and he knows it.

2 - Dawn of the Dead. I never thought of it that way but I'm reading all these ways people have compared it to Dawn of the Dead and its just like wow... it fits.

3- The way people are interpretting it as him and his girlfriend being together and loving each other but then the girl does something and makes everything fall apart. But she doesnt want to act like its dead so she goes of saying she loves him but she never means it. Its like shes dead to him. a Corpse in the bed.

Thanks you guys

This song is so amazing, he sounds so desperate in the end of it, it's different for them, it sounds like one of those cheesy slow dance songs that they'd play in some cheesy high school movie until you get into the lyrics.
"There's no room in this hell, there's no room in the next And our memories deafeat us And I'll end this direst..."
It's so Friggin awesome!!!!
