[00:00]Isn't This A Lovely Day (To Be Caught In The Rain)
Stacey Kent Written by: Irving Berlin
(inc WinAmp lyrics timings)

[00:10]The weather is fright'ning
[00:12]The thunder and lightning
[00:14]Seem to be having their way
[00:18]But as far as I'm concerned, it's a lovely day

[00:25]The turn in the weather
[00:27]Will keep us together
[00:29]So I can honestly say
[00:34]That as far as I'm concerned, it's a lovely day
[00:40]And everything's O.K.

[00:48]Isn't this a lovely day
[00:52]To be caught in the rain?
[00:57]You were going on your way
[01:02]Now you've got to remain

[01:08]Just as you were going, leaving me all at sea
[01:12]The clouds broke, they broke and oh!
[01:22]What a break for me

[01:26]I can see the sun up high
[01:29]Tho' we're caught in the storm
[01:35]I can see where you and I
[01:39]Could be cozy and warm

[01:43]Let the rain pitter patter
[01:46]But it really doesn't matter
[01:49]If the skies are gray
[01:54]Long as I can be with you it's a lovely day

[02:00](piano solo)

[03:14]I can see the sun up high
[03:17]Tho' we're caught in the storm
[03:23]I can see where you and I
[03:26]Could be cozy and warm

[03:31]Let the rain pitter patter
[03:34]But it really doesn't matter
[03:36]If the skies are gray
[03:41]Long as I can be with you it's a lovely day

General Comment:This song was composed by Irving Berlin for the movie TOP HAT starring Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire in 1935. In the course of the movie, Fred's character meets Ginger's character, and it is love at first sight for him, but not for her. She's determined to avoid him as he is to win her heart. In one scene, both of them are trapped on a bandstand in London's Hyde Park during a rainstorm.. and this is where the song comes into play.

Stacey Kent did a good job at interpreting this song. I like Ella Fitzgerald's interpretation too (which can be heard from one of her songbooks).
