Consider the odds
Consider the obvious
The martyr is meaningless
The campaign has died

In the planning stages
And the fallen faces
Are the singular proof
That it was ever alive

This purchased rebellion
Has been outbidded
Denounced and rescinded
And left to die championless

Championless, championless

I begged you not to go
I begged you, I pleaded
Claimed you as my only hope
And watched the floor as you retreated

Hope has sprung a perfect dive
A perfect day, a perfect lie
A slowly crafted monologue
Conceding your defeat

This purchased rebellion
Has been outbidded
Denounced and rescinded
And left to die championless

Championless, championless

I begged you not to go
I begged you, I pleaded
Claimed you as my only hope
And watched the floor as you retreated

Does it comfort you to know you fought the good fight?
Basking in your victory, hollow and alone
To boast your bitter bragging rights to anyone who'll listen
While you're left with nothing tangible to gain

General Comment:I think it's about someone who was glorified by others by breaking the writer's heart.... but now after she fought for what was "good", she just realized what was the purpose of her actions? Then, after all of the shit she did to him...and wondered why she did it... now no one cares about her....

General Comment:Definitely one of my favorites from dashboard.
This is what I interpreted from the song.

He fell in love with a girl who fooled him and played with him . He let this girl get the best of him. He did all that he could to make the girl stay with him because he still loved her but in the end she left anyway. But he put a good fight even though he lost.

General Comment:This is probably wrong, but I've interpreted this song as though the guy singing has cheated on his girlfriend and gotten caught. The martyr being the girl he cheated with. And when he says the purchased rebellion has been outdated denounced rescinded and left to die etc. he's telling her that he's moved on that he's not gonna cheat, and the only trace of his affair are the looks of disappointed she and all her friends give him.

Then the line, As you boast your bitter bragging rights to anyone who will listen While you’re left with nothing tangible to gain, i think the bitter bragging rights are basically her right to bitch about how he cheated to anyone who will listen. and he's saying fine you have that right, but why end this now, why end it like this, this can still be perfect, but if you end it now no one wins, we're championless. don't give me this speach, this slowly crafted monologue about how you're giving up, i need you a lot more than i thought i did, you're my only hope.

And i know im jumping around here, but then the lines, Hope has sprung a perfect dive A perfect day A perfect lie. he's saying he was hopeful she might give him another chance, and he thought about all the things he'd do different and how things will be perfect, and he dived right into it, but in reality it was all one big perfect lie, because she delivers him this speech about how their done, how they will never be together again

thats my take on the song anyway

General Comment:i believe that this song is about a relationship that the singer put all of himself in, but it ended it up it wasn't enough to keep the one he loved there.

General Comment:It sounds good what this Crhistian dude says, it got me right in the part about "A slowly crafted monologue conceding your defeat" it just reminded me of all the people that questions faith. That would be exactly the point right there
