It's up in my heart when it skips a beat (skips a beat)
Can't feel no pavement right under my feet (under my feet)

Up in my lonely room
When I'm dreaming of you (wah oooo)
Oh what can I do
I still need you, but
I don't want you now

When I'm down and my hands are tied (hands are tied)
I cannot reach a pen for me to draw the line (draw the line)
From this pain I just can't disguise
Its gonna hurt but I'll have to say goodbye

Up in my lonely room
When I'm dreaming of you (wah oooo)
Oh what can I do
I still need you, but
I don't want you now

Oh yeah

Ohhh Ohhhhh

Up in my lonely room
When I'm dreaming of you (wah oooo)
Oh what can I do
I still need you, but
I don't want you now

General Comment:i agree that there are many different views on this song, but the true meaning is actually about drug addiction. im not sure what the drug was, i think cocaine or heroin or maybe even weed, but its about becoming clean. ''i still need you but, i dont want you now'' ''It's gonna hurt but i'll have to say goodbye'' its pretty obvious. its purley about the thought of the drug going through his mind, over and over again as he's trying to get off of it.

General Comment:THIS SONG IS ABSOLUTELY ABOUT MATURBATION! Think about it. Up in my room. dreaming of you. i think its about this guy who can't be with this girl he is dating or whatever, and isn't in love with her, but is still in love with her body.
    Up in my lonely room(alone)
    When I'm dreaming of you(fantasizing)
Oh what can I do?(can't help but masturbate to the thought of her)
I still need you but I don't want you now(in love with her body, not her)
When I'm down and my hands are tied(aw, sad masturbation)

General Comment:Well this has always been one of my favourite songs but I'd say it is pretty certainly about heroin and not about a girl, although I think it has been deliberately written to be ambigious enough to sound to the casual listener like it might be about love of a person.

General Comment:I think this song is about a guy falling in love with his friend. He was hurting from his ex and failed to see what was there in front of him all along. Now suddenly he realizes he has these feelings for his friend and it surprises him "What's up with my heart when it skips a beat? Can't feel no pavement right under my feet"

He's confused and can't stop thinking about this friend he's in love with but is still hurting for his ex and can't get over her. He doesn't want to get over his ex, so therefore tries to tell himself that he doesn't love his friend, but he can't stop thinking about her- and knows they'll inevitably end up together but he has to get over his ex first.
    "Up in my lonely room
    When I'm dreaming of you
    Oh what can I do?
I still need you but I don't want you now"

He's stuck in limbo and can't get the courage to finally end things for good with his ex because he knows deep inside that they're over, he just doesn't want to feel the pain of letting go. But if he does, he will be free to love his friend, who was meant for him all along.

When I'm down and my hands are tied
I cannot reach a pen for me to draw the line
From this pain I just can't disguise
It's gonna hurt but i'll have to say goodbye

General Comment:Indeed, it could very well be about love, or it could just as easily be about heroin.

What makes your heart skip a beat? Heroin and Love.
What makes you feel as if flying? Heroin and Love.

Unlike booze, heroin is usually taken in a room alone. Hence the lonely room reminding him of heroin, and the 2nd verse clearly shows a person suffering from withdrawal.

All up to you to decide.

    General Comment:Amazing song!!
Really upbeat one of the songs that allways cheers me up!
I think its about liking someone that you shouldn't, you don't want to like them but you can't stop thinking about them, their like a weakness to you and you don't like the feeling of needing them so badly.
It seems asif he is talking about first love, " Whats up with my heart when it skips a beat?" the feeling you get when you see someone and they make you happy just by seeing them but if it is your first love you aren't use to feeling like that and its scary!
Allthough the songs seens happy it is sad in away as the person really loves another person but can't be with them.
