His after moan though cries oh no
He's building up a shine but he take it slow
And he knows it time to make a change here And time to get away
And he knows it's time for all the wrong reasons And time to end the pain
But he sleep all, sleep all day, sleep all, we sleep all day over again
Why don't we?
She said, what would you're mother think of all this, how would you father react oh
would they take it all back, what they've done?
the way they said take it, take it
he said make it with your own two hands
that was my old man and he said
if all is grounded you should go make a mountain out of it
oh what a lovely day to have a slice of humble pie
recalling of the while we used to drive and drive here and there
going nowhere but for us, nowhere but for the two of us
and we knew it was time to take a chance here
and time to compromise our lives for awhile
and it was time for all the wrong reasons
but time is often on my side and I give it to you tonight
and we sleep all, sleep all day, sleep all, we sleep all day over again
as time goes by we get a little bit tired waking and baked another Marlboro mile wide
it's sending the boys on the run in the time in hot summer sun
to swim beneath or over outside as they're reading between the lines
then they remember the part in the hallmark card where they read about the dreams
and reaching for the stars to hold on a little bit closer to
and they knew it was time, time to take a chance here
time to compromise our little lives for just a little while
and they knew it was time for all the wrong reasons
as time is often on my side and I give it to you, oh boy
and we sleep all, sleep all day, sleep all, we sleep all day over again
She said, what would you're mother think of all this, how would you father react oh
would they take it all back, what they've done?
the way they said take it, take it
he said make it with your own two hands
that was my old man and he said

The line 'he's building up a shine but he take it show', sweating from sex
'And he knows it time to make a change here And time to get away', meaning he needs to make a change in this repetition of sleeping all day & get away from the bedroom (?)
'as time goes by we get a little bit tired waking and baked another Marlboro mile wide', like someone else said, this could be an after sex cigarette/cigar.
As for 'what would your mother think? oh lord, how would your father react? oh', that could mean his parents would disapprove of this.
Then again, I could be completely wrong
hah, sorry i got side tracked.
then the whole waking and baked thing, the classic cigarette after sex.
it sounds really great and there may be more meaning in it too.
but it's pretty much people to get out and do with his like what he can.
yep [:
i agree with most of the people here. i believe this song is about takin' it easy. Though we already know what to do to achieve our gol, we'd rather do something else more fun !!
definitely one of the soundtracks of my life. hugs for jason!
I think he brings up his mother and father because he's drawing inspiration from them. They have sacrificed throughout life, but thier sacrifices have brought them satisfaction and fulfillment "would they take it all back what they've done? no way"
I don't know - that's just my interpretation - maybe a bit skewed....this is basically a description of myself - maybe that's why I love this song so much. God I wish I could just sleep all day.
But i have to point out a correction for the lyrics, it's actually my favorite part:
"what would your mother think OF ALL THIS, and how would your father react? oh lord
would THEY take it all back, what they've done?
THE WAY THEY said take it take it, and he said MAKE IT with your own two hands ...."
it's an amazing part, but the meaning is TOTALLY different with different lyrics... she's telling him to think of his parents, they pushed him out into the world hoping he would do something great, and now that he's doing nothing all day would they be dissapointed in him? would they take back the choices they made for him?
