Consider this the letter that I never sent
However inconsiderate it seems
Do you still consider me?
Consider me the boy you laughed with
Or you learned to live without?
I suck
I know I'm late
I know you waited
You wouldn't get me on the phone
And you couldn't make me not alone

The phone bill's are all stacked up
By my bedside
With your picture
Looking surprised
You're what makes
New England so great
My island nights are all spent dying
Wait for summer
To become wrought with lips
(My wishful thinking)

You wouldn't get me on the phone
And you couldn't make me not alone
Yeah you wouldn't get me
You wouldn't get me
You wouldn't get me on the phone

I never thought this day would end
(Never thought this day would end)
I never thought tonight could ever be
This close to me
So let my hands stray
Past the boundaries of your back
And get you breathing
We'll get you started

You wouldn't get me
You wouldn't get me
You wouldn't get me on the phone
Yeah you wouldn't get me
You wouldn't get me
You could have made me not alone

My Interpretation:I think the key to this song is in the first line: "Consider this a letter that I never sent."

This girl's waited for him, he knows he sucks for leading her on, but he still wants her. The rest is just lamenting the complicated relationship, because even if he had her he would still feel alone - "You couldn't make me not alone" - which is probably why he's not going to send this letter.

It's about his life changing and leaving someone else behind, even though he doesn't want to completely, and he feels bad about it.

By the way Logan to Government Center (in case you haven't read all the comments saying this before mine) is a subway trip in Boston, to get downtown from the airport.

    It's the Blue Line. Bam.

General Comment:i believe people are making good connections to this song. itried to find it out my self and got this:
jesse is in a dead relationship with a girl from boston. it is mostly likely his fault that its dead, but he wants to breath life back into it, and he wants to make sure she is still willing.

"Consider this a letter that I never sent
    However inconsiderate it seems
    Do you still consider me,
consider me the boy you laughed with
or that you learned to live without?... I suck,
    I know I'm late,
    I know you waited"
-he's sayng this is something they both know, its stupid, and is asking if she remembers him as someone she moved on from, or remembers him as someone she used to have fun with. he knows that he screwed the relationship up and that its a little late to be bringing it up

"You wouldn't get me on the phone
And you couldn't make me not alone"
-she didnt want to hold him down, but couldnt make him move on either

"My phone bills stacked up by my bedside,
with your picture, you're looking surprised
You're what makes New England so great
My island nights are all spent dying
Wait for summer to become wrought with lips,
    my wishful thinking"
-he's remembering how great their relationship was, dreading the wait for summer so he could see her; but that summer it got screwed up

"Yeah you're a blue eyed lightning bolt
    (Yeah we can be)
    I'm a national phenomenon
(You wouldn't get me on the phone)
Nothing's absolutely definite 'til it's absolutely, definitely gone (definitely gone)"
-he's saying they're both a bit crazy, and their realtionship never really had an 'end' so its not really over yet.

"I never thought this day would end (never thought this day would end)
I never thought tonight could ever be this close to me (close to me)
So let my hands stray past that boundaries of your back
to get you breathing (get you breathing)
And get this started (get this started)"
-he never thought that their relationship would get screwed up, and that he would regret so much, so he wants to start it up again

the title has already been explained and seems right. boston airport (logan) to government center being the way he got to her. also just a wierd thought, could blue eyed lightning bolt be describing the train that took him to her? the blue line from logan to government center? just a thought 0.o

General Comment:just for everyone who doesn't know--

logan airport is in boston, mass.
people usually take the T there (so that they don't have to leave their car, if they have one), and government center is a stop on the T.

i'm guessing this is about him traveling/touring a lot.

he had to leave her behind
    "Do you still consider me,
consider me the boy you laughed with
or that you learned to live without?... "

and they've been keeping in touch.
"My phone bills stacked up by my bedside"

and they finally get to see eachother when he flies home. so basically they missed eachother a lot

"I never thought this day would end (never thought this day would end)
I never thought tonight could ever be this close to me (close to me)"
(after a long day of flying and traveling, he finally gets to be with her)

    ANDDDDDDDD then they have sex
"So let my hands stray past that boundaries of your back
to get you breathing (get you breathing)
And get this started (get this started)"
