I'll leave the lights down low
so she knows I mean business
And maybe we could talk this over
Cause I could be your best bet
Let alone your worst ex
And let alone your worst...
I wanna hate you so bad
But I can't (but I can't) stop this
anymore than you can
So honestly, how could you say those things
when you know they don't mean anything?
And you know very well
that I can't keep my hands to myself,
hands to myself
I wanna hate you so bad
But I can't (but I can't) stop this
anymore than you can
This is all wrong and it shows
There's certain things I promised not to let you know,
(I've got a silly way of keepin' you up on the edge of my seat,
I've got a silly way of keepin' you up on the...)
not to let you know
I never let you, never let you, never...
You've got this silly way
of keepin' me on the edge of my seat
But you're only countin' the clock against the train
And I'm miserable, oh
(I've got a silly way of keepin you up on the edge of my seat,
I've got a silly way of keepin you up on the...)
And you're just getting started
I'm miserable, oh
And you're just getting started
You've got me right where you want me
(let's never talk about this again) Let's never talk, let's never,
let's never talk about this again because...
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
Anyway... yeah
so she knows I mean business
And maybe we could talk this over
Cause I could be your best bet
Let alone your worst ex
And let alone your worst...
I wanna hate you so bad

--- this part stresses the buisness part of making it serious.. making it a serious 'we need to talk' about our relationship kind of breakup. it can either go lightly, and can be mutual or he can end up being her worst ex and ruining her live and being on not good terms.
I wanna hate you so bad
But I can't (but I can't) stop this
anymore than you can
-- even IF it were to be a bad relationship break up, he can't hate her. no matter what. his feelings for her are so strong that no matter how much he tries to be her 'worst ex' he cant. they don't hate eachother.
So honestly, how could you say those things
when you know they don't mean anything?
And you know very well
that I can't keep my hands to myself,
hands to myself
- the point of the breakup was probably because saying things such as 'i'm in love with you' or 'your the only one for me' don't mean anything when in the end one of them couldnt keep their hands to themselves and ended up cheating or fooling around with another person. even though they still love eachother. they werent exclusive.

--- He wouldn't tell his girlfriend essential things that would have contributed to the trust in their relationship. like possibly where he was at times.. if he cheated, if he did things that he promised not to, or etc. he kept her up all night wondering and would lie to her and tell himself he would never tell her all the wrongdoings or things that would ruin their relationship.
You've got this silly way
of keepin' me on the edge of my seat
But you're only countin' the clock against the train

-- he was miserable in the relationship while she was just starting to fall harder for him. could be vice versa. im not sure. as she falls more in love, hes going behind her back and doing bad things and falling out of love if he ever was in it at all. could be the other way around.
You've got me right where you want me
(let's never talk about this again) Let's never talk, let's never,
let's never talk about this again because...
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
- never talking about it again is avoiding the situation and problems which could have led to the downffall of their relationship. the cheating or talking to the other girls and jealousy actually ended up maybe as more than a fling or a chat to him.. and he may have become more interested in a nother girl. hes dismissing the problems and running away. having him right where she wants him leads me to believe that now she found out and he feels like he should do everything to bow down to her now that he knows he messed up. she has power over him.
but IDK thats my opinion omg.
She cheated on him. He wants to talk it out, to make everything okay because despite her actions he still wants to be with her. He doesn't WANT to want to be with her, but we can't help who we like.
He's also confused because he doesn't understand how she could "say these things" (probably that she loves him) and then do what she did. She also knows that she has a kind of power over him.
He wants to hate her, but he can't.
(but I really think he should because even if they got back together I don't think they could ever be happy). :)

Ps- it gets pretty epic at "You've got this silly way" so if thats your favorite part i suggest you give it a listen
This one is just about the end of a relationship
She breaks up with him because he "cant keep his hands to himself"
He doesnt want it to end, but since she's the one dumping him he's angry and kinda threatening to be her "worst ex" (by either saying things to ruin her rep or just being an ass to her or something)
But of course he can't bring himself to actually "hate her", which is why he says "maybe we could talk this over"
"Those things" is referring to all the sweet stuff she said to him during the relationship, and now he's looking at it say "how could you say those things" when they obviously dont mean anything since you just dumped me
In the bridge he's reflecting on what he did, and is realizing its all wrong. "There's certain things" he promised not to let her know, but that promise was to himself. He really liked her and told himself he was going to not cheat or play around like he did with his previous relationships. But it was just too hard...
She kept him "on the edge of his seat" because he actually liked her and fell for her as opposed to just using her. She was just waiting for him to mess up though. Just seeing how long it would take ("counting the clock") to ruin everything ("train" wreck)
At this point he's a wreck, he's "miserable", but she's only "getting started." She has yet to tell all her friends and really ruin him
She has him in the palm of her hands. He cheated and hurt her, but now she has him "right where she wants him" in order to get revenge
At this point he's realizing that this all got way out of hand, and that he never should have let himself fall for her and really "didnt want it to mean this much" to him. He wasn't ready to transition from being a player into a lover, and he doesn't want to think about it or ever "talk about this again"
Anyway, yeah...

he sort of.. wants to be with her but is worried about how it'll end up in the end. or she doesn't want to be with him and he's trying to convince her that there's a chance it could work, even though it could also go really bad.
I wanna hate you so bad
But I can't (but I can't) stop this
anymore than you can
he doesn't wanna keep having sex with her because it hurts him, or something.. but at the same time he can't stop.
So honestly, how could you say those things
when you know they don't mean anything?
And you know very well
that I can't keep my hands to myself,
hands to myself
maybe she's trying to end the situation but he just wants to touch her?
You've got this silly way
of keepin' me on the edge of my seat
But you're only countin' the clock against the train
And I'm miserable, oh
(I've got a silly way of keepin you up on the edge of my seat,
I've got a silly way of keepin you up on the...)
And you're just getting started
I'm miserable, oh
And you're just getting started
she's perhaps told him it has to end at some stage soon, so he's just waiting for that time to come and it hurts him because as i've kept saying, he doesn't want to stop.
You've got me right where you want me
(let's never talk about this again) Let's never talk, let's never,
let's never talk about this again because...
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
I didn't want it to mean that much to me
the situation started out purely as fun, but it started to mean something to him.. he started to care about her.
yeah, just my opinion... i know it's a little confuzing/lame.
i think it's more the relationship never happend.
he likes a girl he's friends with but doesnt wanna say coz altho he thinks she has feelings, he's unsure, but then puckers up the courage to tell her.
she doesnt feel the same and he doesnt understand why coz theyre so close
' I'll leave the lights down low
so she knows I mean business
And maybe we could talk this over
Cause I could be your best bet
Let alone your worst ex
And let alone your worst... '
he's asking why, whs wrong with me,
he says 'i wanna hate you so bad but i can't'
because he's hurt but he thiks so much of her an jus cant hate
she then says she doesnt realise how he cuda got the impression she had feelings and hes sayin can you honestly not see how i have, the way we talk have fun and are so close.
knowing the kinda guy he is she shuda seen he'd get attached.
he says its all wrong, and how he'd promised to not say anything but just had to say something, and explaining why she makes him feel like that, 'you've got this silly way of keping me on the dge of my seat'
maybe the girl actually thrives on this attention
he also doesnt wana lose the friendship and make it awkward
'lets never talk about this again'
he says how he never anted the felings
i didnt wannit to man that much to me'
this is whats just happend to me and thats why i believe this song means that, and its not about a relationship.
*sigh* it sucks really. But it's an amazingly goods song
