Breathe in for luck,
Breathe in so deep,
This air is blessed,
You share with me.
This night is wild,
So calm and dull,
These hearts they race,
From self control.
Your legs are smooth,
As they graze mine,
We're doing fine,
We're doing nothing at all.

My hopes are so high,
That your kiss might kill me.
So won't you kill me,
So I die happy.
My heart is yours to fill or burst,
To break or bury,
Or wear as jewellery,
Whichever you prefer.

The words are hushed lets not get busted;
Just lay entwined here, undiscovered.
Safe from the hour and all the stupid questions
"Hey did you get some?"
Man, that is so dumb.
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close they can't hear
So we can get some.

My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me.
So won't you kill me, so I die happy.
My heart is yours to fill or burst,
To break or bury, or wear as jewellery,
Whichever you prefer.

Hands down this is the best date I can ever remember,
Always remember, the sound of the stereo,
The dim of the soft lights,
The scent of your hair that you twirled in your fingers
And the time on the clock when we realized it's so late
And this walk that we shared together.
The streets were wet and the gate was locked so I jumped it,
And let you in.
And you stood at your door with your hands on my waist
And you kissed me like you meant it.
And I knew that you meant it, that you meant it,
That you meant it, and I knew,
That you meant it, that you meant it.

My Interpretation:What I got from this song is obvious. This guy is on a date with a girl. He likes her so much that all he wants is a kiss. Nothing more. And when he gets this kiss he's going to die, and when he does he wants to give his heart to her and she can do whatever she wants with it. At the end of the song, the kiss was better than he thought.

General Comment:It takes me back to the summer of 2009, and the girl that I was dating...it was her song to me...it just makes me remember that night in that hotel room with her.

Lyric Correction:"Hands down this is the best day I can ever remember,
I'll always remember the sound of the stereo,"

"So here's a song about the best day I've ever had."
MTV Unplugged intro for "Hands Down" by Chris Carrabba.

General Comment:My gawddd this song makes me cry! Happy tears, sad tears, bring on the waterworks. This song is just so incredibly versatile, I swear I lived this--how I cashed in my v-card, a relationship I never wanted to ever end, and now being back with a special someone. It's anything you want it to be. I can't imagine a summer day in July without blasting "Hands Down" ;)

General Comment:i can see why people think it implies sex but the "hey did you get some" line disproves it. It brings an image of someone yelling that out of a car as they drove by the couple. And the fact that he says "My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me" means that they haven't even kissed and I'm pretty sure if they haven't kissed they haven't had sex. wait... on second thought... yeah. no sex.

General Comment:i really think this song is about loving someone so much that you can't even understand why they feel that way about you. That you don't see yourself as much as anything, but they see you as everything. And you want that to never end, no matter what they do.
"My heart is yours, to fill or burst, to break or bury..."
& it also tells his story with a girl.
its anything you want it to be.
    but all in all:
being with someone and never wanting it to end.

General Comment:i was so in love with this song, mainly because it's very descriptive like you can just taste how well their night went - kinda reminds me of this guy..

anywho i can't help but imagine that this song has something to do with car sex (maybe while it was raining?).. i'm not trying to be dirty btw

    - Your legs are smooth as they graze mine. We're doing fine, we're doing nothing at all.. and the whole second verse sorta implies sex..

    - and then the last verse before the end of the song (the sound of the stereo, etc) made me think they were in a car

    - 'streets were wet' made me think it just stopped raining and for some reason they felt like walking the rest of the way

General Comment:I think this song is basically about a night that a guy has with a girl he's in love with. I think it might be a date with a girl he's been in a relationship for a long time (simply because most first dates don't include laying together). It's a sad, sweet song.

"Breathe in for luck, breathe in so deep
This air is blessed, you share with me
This night is wild, so calm and dull
These hearts they race from self control
Your legs are smooth as they graze mine
We're doing fine, we're doing nothing at all"
He's clearly nervous; hearts racing, breathing in for luck. They're laying together, maybe in bed, maybe somewhere else, but that's all. They're 'doing nothing at all' but laying together, and in that moment, they're doing fine.

"My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me
So won't you kill me, so I die happy?
My heart is yours to fill or burst, to break or bury
Or wear as jewelery, whichever you prefer"
Self explanatory. His heart is hers, her kiss is electrifiying, shocking.

"The words are hushed let's not get busted
    Just lay entwined here, undiscovered
Safe in here from all the stupid questions
"Hey did you get some?" . . . Man, that is so dumb
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close they can't hear
    So we can get some"
They're laying together entwined...in their own little world, no one else exists right now but each other. He wishes they could stay in there because he's safe from all the stupid questions he know his friends will ask the next day; i.e. "hey did you get some?" etc.

"Hands down this is the best day I can ever remember
Always remember the sound of the stereo
The dim of the soft lights,
The scent of your hair that you twirled in your fingers
And the time on the clock when we realized it's so late
And this walk that we shared together
The streets were wet and the gate was locked
So I jumped it, and let you in
And you stood at your door with your hands on my waist
And you kissed me like you meant it
And I knew that you meant it
That you meant it, that you meant it
I knew that you meant it, that you meant it"
He's describing the little things now, that were so special; the soft lighting, the music, the smell of her hair. They're so wrapped up in being with each other that they don't notice the time on the clock, so when they finally look at it, it's so late and it's time for him to bring her home. He jumps the gate and opens it for her, another 'little thing' showing how much he cares. And finally, the goodnight kiss; she kisses him, and he knows that she meant it.
This song could be about a night described with an ex, or maybe current girlfriend. It's hard to tell. Basically, this song is about a night that two young lovers have had.

The last verse is absolutely amazing. The weird thing is, this verse describes almost word for word a night I had with a boy I'm (still) in love with, who's now my ex. When I first heard it I was stunned. From the laying entwined together, not doing anything but being fine with that, to the dim lighting, to us looking at the clock and realizing it's so late. It was truly a beautiful night that I'll hold in my memory always.
